SACD purchasing question
I sent Markl a PM, let him know that I just picked up Boston on SACD single layer. Let me tell you that for sure I can tell the difference between the redbook copy and the SACD version. I have not heard a 2000+ recording on SACD, so I can't say. We will have to wait to see if someone (artist)...- GregR

markl, I have the Cardas upgrade cables on backorder from Headroom. I would like to someday, when I grow up, get some Cardas interconnects for my CD player. I have some second hand ones right now, can't complain, maybe I should have them re-wrapped. Anyway. I will check into the amp. I will...- GregR

I understand now markl. I am looking at the Super Audio weblink from Sony Music, and now realize what you are talking about. Sony offers at least 6 players that are SACD compatible. I am off to see the wizard....can you tell me of a 'machine that will do all that you speak of...relative to...- GregR

I have been away from this for too long, looks as if there is alot more out there to offer. Markl, I should heed your thoughts and check into this Redbook that you talk of. I did not even know that there was an Audio mastering. Though it seems to me that DVD-A has a higher dynamic range that of...- GregR

The manual for the DVP-NS900V states that it cannot play DVD-A, but I have used the software listed above in the player, and it works....And the software that I mentioned is DVD-A, with this logo and the Advanced Resolution logo...go figure, I may have stumbled onto something that I did not...- GregR

Quote: Originally posted by Vertigo-1 I think you meant just DVD, or DAD. I doubt Sony would ever make a player to support DVD-A. Maybe in the future, but I have a feeling they'd rather see DVD-A get buried then support it. Well, here are the specs of my DVD Player: DVD Video...- GregR

I have a Sony NS900V which supports both DVD-A and SACD. Though I thought that the sample rate was higher, and could only be processed by a head that could handle the 96 kHz/24bit PCM. I do not know of a headphone amp that can handle this rate. Or does that really matter. I know that the SACD...- GregR

OK, big question, and I know that I will get a lot of replies....so here goes. I have just gotten a pair of Senn HD600's. Now, how do I go about matching a CD player and an Amp to this configuration? I was really looking at a CD player made by Adcom. The GCD700 or 750. With this in mind, would...- GregR
