Same Old Schiit? Balanced Research and Valhalla Amp Giveaway
Do you have balanced headphones? If so, which ones? Recabled balanced Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO 600ohm and Victor HP-DX3 90ohm If not, are you looking at balanced headphones or a balanced amp in the future? A balanced amp would be nice. For balanced headphone output, how important is it...- FLACm0nkEy

How to check my PM box size and current usage?
That might be it. I've been off the board for a few months, and the forum had quite a few changes in recent months. Hopefully you are right mate.- FLACm0nkEy

How can I check what my PM box capacity is and how much of it I'm using? I see the unread message count but no other count. Help is much appreciated.- FLACm0nkEy

Need help choosing my next full-size headphones
Quote: My pair of DT770 has nice impact, but honestly the detail isn't all there. I can hear some finer textures with DX1 and HP1000. Actually I've ordered a pair of DT990 250ohm (which might be a mistake if the drivers turn out to be the same, and if it turns out that my amps...- FLACm0nkEy

choosing DIY amp for DT770 Consumer
I'd like my amp to work with multiple sources. Most of the time I've been using a grubDAC, however I'd like to use it with a Toshiba Gigabeat F, and I'm also planning on getting either a gamma2 or Buffalo II DAC. Or both. I actually have a pair of DT990 250ohm arriving this week, as well...- FLACm0nkEy

choosing DIY amp for DT770 Consumer
There is a variable gain version? I just looked over the project page on AMB, and from what I understood the gain is fixed by the resistor values I choose, and the board does not have space for multiple configurations.- FLACm0nkEy

Extruded Aluminum Low-Profile Portable Enclosures
Quote: You are quite correct. They aren't DIY. I've done extensive repairs on several high priced retail amps. However, SMD does exist in DIY realm, consider grubDAC, Bantam DAC, and the good old Alien DAC.- FLACm0nkEy

Carrie USB-Powered Headphone Amplifier
Interesting project. This is just what I and another member on the forum were looking for. A couple questions (pardon if they have been asked): 1. What purpose does the switch in the pot serve in this circuit? In regular mini^3 it is obviously used to turn it off and conserve battery...- FLACm0nkEy

Extruded Aluminum Low-Profile Portable Enclosures
Yep, I kind of like SMD to be honest. I've worked with a couple portables and DACs that were all SMD, and I found them quicker to assemble. I have a temperature controlled Weller soldering station with nice tips, that makes working with SMD a joy. Also, as much as I want to bring Li-Ion to...- FLACm0nkEy
