Hi, I can only comment on the D2000s. I can use them lying down etc. but there is a sense that there might slip. A pillow or cushion usually gives sufficient support. I have to admit that I don't do this very often with any headphones though. This all depends of course on the size of your melon...

Yes, I think this could be a factor too. Certainly a relatively long break and then coming back to listening just to the Denons rather than obsessively switching between cans during auditioning has helped.
