Periodic Audio IEMs Mg, Ti, Be, C
Anyone else have one driver of a V3 go out? (Carbon in my case.) Intermittent connection, and then nothing. Wiggling the connector helps for a little while and then it doesn't – and swapping sides, swapping cables, etc. doesn't help either. Meanwhile the other driver remains just fine. If...- episiarch

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...
Sounds great to me. Thanks. (I never got along great with foams, so my standards aren't quite that high.) I just updated my post above to reflect the actual brand of that deep-fit custom IEM I remember from way back when.- episiarch

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...
Sorry, I should have been more specific – would it be comparable to well-fitting tri-flange isolation? I'm thinking back to an Indian company that exhibited very deep-fit customs at CanJam London some years ago. They were very insistent that second-bend fit was needed to get the sonics they...- episiarch

@AnyDave yes, I'd be very interested. Would your plan include it having ER levels of isolation as well?- episiarch

Apple Music Now with lossless high-res and spatial audio
You should be able to find them all in the Releases section of the GitHub repository. Choose a likely-looking date/release, expand its Assets dropdown, and download and try the corresponding zip file.- episiarch

AirPods Max
It surprised me too. I think one possibility is that this is a placeholder update, maybe until H3 chip is ready, or – making a leap here – new suspension system that would integrate nicely with a future new Vision suspension system.- episiarch

The AKG K550 Impressions and Discussion Thread!
Those pads look like a big upgrade over what I'm using. What are they? The headband cover looks pretty nice too.- episiarch

Etymotic Research EVO impressions and discussion thread
I really, really like my EVO. I had been holding out for the quad-driver prototype I heard at Canjam London one year – it was fantastic – but in the meantime I bought a used and well-treated EVO. Now I wish I had a second, just in case. Sonically I'm more of an SR guy, but filterrolling got...- episiarch

The AKG K550 Impressions and Discussion Thread!
I should add for avoidance of doubt: the mere oval – rather than angled oval – pads don't provide the same good sonic experience. Only the angled oval ones, which are bulked-up enough along the back that they retain a smaller sound channel when stretched onto the round K550.- episiarch

The AKG K550 Impressions and Discussion Thread!
My odd but very successful solution to the Brainwavz "huge diameter hole" problem has been to use their angled oval pads. When stretched round the K550, the inside diameter is still small enough to retain a good sound signature – close enough to stock that I enjoy it, and the extra depth from...- episiarch

Etymotic Research EVO impressions and discussion thread
I agree with these impressions, and I really love my EVO. But I really missed what you call the etched aspect of the ER4 sound. I've switched to brown filters, which for me are giving a pretty good best-of-both experience.- episiarch

Yes. I have a few sets, from a couple different makers, in about three different material/finish combinations. TLDR, they're nice but I don't use them as much as I thought I would. The drivers and cable stick out awkwardly. And while the fit is comfortable, it's pretty effortful to get them in...- episiarch

It's really unfortunate that the filter-change instructions seem no longer discoverable on the website. But here's a link to the ER4 instructions with filter change on pages 8-9 (and it's the same procedure on all Etys). If you've never changed your filters, this is definitely the first thing...- episiarch

Replacing Etymotic ER-4S?
I'd say get ER4-SR. ER-4S was my reference sound since around 2001 – and then ER4-SR came out, and I love it more. It's very much the same style of tuning, and available new with 2-year warranty.- episiarch
