HD800 Serial Number
I'm not new to the world of audiohpilia, but previously I've focused on IEMs, terminating in a modded pair of SE846's, now looking to expand and get a set of HD800s, but browsing the classified forums I see that there are lots of posts stating the serial number - is there any reason for this...- EastOne

SE846 Filter mod
Yeah the first paragraph describes what I’ve done. When fitted without external vents it sounds darker than the stock filter and green, and I’ve had to vent them with double the cross sectional area I would vent the green knowles with, if that says anything.- EastOne

SE846 Filter mod
I tried a variation of what you described in the previous post, basically taking advantage of removing the “internal vent” by filing down the spacer, using a white cloth from the Knowles filter at the standard location on the stock tube, and then a brown 1000ohm knowles filter at the end, offset...- EastOne

SE846 Filter mod
The vent tube I have aligned parallel to the earphone tube and terminatesoutside of the threaded connection entirely, so it’s venting parallel to the earphone tube from canal to atmosphere, but in the configuration I had, damper and heat shrink, it would also have been venting the entirety of...- EastOne

SE846 Filter mod
So by swapping from the raw metal tube to the Stock Filters with modified filter material, I'd be reducing nozzle diameter whilst using a less resonant tubing material, so the net effect is that with the same colour filter I would get a less bright sound if all else remains the same as I...- EastOne

SE846 Filter mod
Yes, exactly that. The initial intention was to see if controlled venting produced a similar sound difference between open and closed back headphones and I believe that this was the case, although I only have my own subjective perception to measure this with. I'd imagine using an even smaller...- EastOne

SE846 Filter mod
This looks really interesting! I tried the mod you suggested 30th May and thoroughly enjoyed it, though I ended up coming back to my Green Knowles filter because I felt it had slightly brighter a sound and perhaps a tiny bit more bass - when using the Jackomik needle mod, bass tends to roll off...- EastOne

SE846 Filter mod
Based on the paper from Knowles, I tried flipping my dampers based on the first mod in this thread, so the damping cloth is further from my ear (ie, backwards compared to how it's pictured in the thread), based on Figure 6 on page 5 I think in the above link. On the surface it brings out more...- EastOne

SE846 Filter mod
I tried the Jackomik mod, I used some silicon tube that wrapped around the metal nozzle then some thicker tubing to sandwich the needle tip and hold it firmly in place. I'm tempted to epoxy it to the silicon just to be extra sure it won't fall out, but it feels very secure now. It's sorta a...- EastOne
