Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I’ve been wondering about running audio signals through relays too. But more than that, I found the scratchy sound the Saga makes when changing the volume to be pretty grating. Doing volume with a ladder is pretty neat, but I don’t think I love the implementation with relays.- eagerears

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Niche perhaps, but a sizable one? Wouldn't this drive a lot of bookshelf speakers just fine? I have a Parasound Zamp for my library that has plenty of power for the pair of KEF Q300's I have there. I looked at Vidar for this too but it had way more power than I needed (and I'm not a believer in...- eagerears

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
I understand that that’s frustrating, but I’m not sure blaming Schiit’s design is fair here. I can see two reasons for having the tubes sunken like that: simpler construction and aesthetics. By putting the sockets directly on the PCB, they have fewer wires to solder, stuff to screw to the case...- eagerears

Schiit Lyr 3 Tube rolling thread.....
Old as in "around for a long time" – it's not necessarily NOS, but looks unused and apparently tests very well. But either way, it's probably not the tube that's at fault, I've now heard the same thing happen with a different tube. So I'm wondering of the Lyr has an issue. Testing right now with...- eagerears

Schiit Lyr 3 Tube rolling thread.....
This isn't really Lyr-specific, but I figure people here might know: I bought an old 6SN7/VT-231 made in 1945. It sounds really good in the Lyr, but occasionally, the left channel gets fairly quiet (doesn't cut out entirely) for a few seconds and then comes back. Is this a sign of age? I'm not...- eagerears

Lyr 3 - The new Coherence™ and Continuity™ hybrid amplifier from Schiit - Impression & discussion thread
Different rooms and different uses! In my library/listening room, I have my turntable and I sit close to both the Lyr and the 'table, so I can use either headphones or speakers. That was actually a big reason for getting it, because it fits what I wanted to do pretty perfectly: have a preamp...- eagerears

Lyr 3 - The new Coherence™ and Continuity™ hybrid amplifier from Schiit - Impression & discussion thread
I've been using mine mostly as a preamp and it's great. I've ordered a Saga on the assumption that it's going to sound very similar (also want the remote in the living room).- eagerears

Lyr 3 - The new Coherence™ and Continuity™ hybrid amplifier from Schiit - Impression & discussion thread
Same thing happened to me with the PYST cables and LISST I wanted. They sent just the Lyr, then when I asked for the rest they sent me a pair of novals rather than an octal LISST. I finally got the correct LISST yesterday.- eagerears

The 6SN7 Identification Guide
I didn't phrase that question well. I did figure that it was a 6SN7, but I was wondering about the date of manufacture. Interesting that it's from 1945, it was sold as being from the 50's. Neat!- eagerears

The 6SN7 Identification Guide
Can somebody ID this tube? It's a Sylvania JAN-CHS-6SN7GT, but it doesn't exactly fit the descriptions at the beginning of this thread. I also can't figure out if those numbers on the back are a date code or not. It's hard to see, but the front says "B 5" on the glass, if that helps.- eagerears

Lyr 3 phono module noise
Thanks, I appreciate your level-headed advice! I just tried another cable and there's no difference. I'm sending a note to Schiit to see what they say. It's a bit long-winded since I don't know how to quantify the noise. I'd hate to send back the Lyr, I really enjoy it.- eagerears

Lyr 3 phono module noise
Interesting, I just tried that. When not connected to the turntable, the cable does pick up noise in different places and the noise is also louder than while connected. When I short the cable by holding the connectors together, it gets super quiet (unless I crank it up really high). It's also...- eagerears

Lyr 3 phono module noise
No, though that thought has occurred to me. I looked at some reviews of the shielded cable Pro-Ject sells, and they're not great. So I've been holding off… do you think a shielded cable would help?- eagerears

Lyr 3 phono module noise
I recently got the new Schiit Lyr 3 with the phono module. It sound great, though the noise floor when switched to phono seems sort of high. It’s definitely the module, when I switch to the line in it’s pretty much dead silent. It’s also interesting that when I unplug the turntable, the noise...- eagerears

Does the Schiit Saga tube turn off in passive mode?
Sort-of answering my own question: from perusing the online manual, the answer seems to be no, the tube stays powered (there’s no mention of a delay when switching back that I can find)- eagerears
