Currently I live with roomates so this way I do not disturb them. Also getting a good headphone system setup is a lot cheaper than a good speaker system. It also takes up a lot less space.

this is probably wrong, but I thought converting audiofiles (wav to mp3, flac to alac) somehow reduced the quality even if keeping the same bitrate size etc.. Maybe if instead of converting to alac if you reripped the source cd's straight to alac they would sound the same?

Interesting, In a couple of other threads I've seen some contention as to whether or not tube amps are good for the Denon's. I think I'd rather go with a solid state one as they require less maintenance, and mroe people seem to favor them for these cans.
