I've owned 3 pairs of Skullcandies. Smokin Buds and Full Metal iems and a pair of Hesh cans. All 3 of them were broken after 3 months of purchase. They just fell apart so easily, some of the worst craftmanship I've ever seen. I don't know how you can see them as anything but cheap gauded up...

I found the stock bowl pads to be a little uncomfortable during extended listening periods when I first got my Sr225i. The foam has softened up quite a bit now and I find no discomfort in wearing them. Try hand washing them with fabric softener or reversing the bowls. This seems to make a change...

Damn, that's a heartbreaking story! I have a lot of empathy for you. I got my pair of Sr225is for 200 dollars online. Maybe you could look into one of the Allesandro Grado models? It might be nice to start over with a similar but different can.

I always attempt to actively listen to my music, especially in my room with my headphones. I hate just "having music on" as a background filler, it's pointless to me. Music is art, would you attempt to analyze and appreciate a painting by just glancing at with anything but your full attention...

Agreed on the Sr60is. They are a great starting point into hi-fi headphones and will make your music sound great with or without an amp.

If you want a good cheap introduction into audiophile quality headphones check out the Grado Sr60is or Sr80is.

Try the bowl pads, if your ears are anywhere near the size of the pads they will be plenty comfortable.

I like a little punchyness to the kick drum and the bass guitar in any song I'm listening to that has those respective instruments. I'm more drawn to huge, textured bass sounds in IDM music. Nothing blows me away on my headphones than an Autechre song blasted.
