The WS99/WS77 PG 57..
Can anyone chime in on how well the WS99 handles non-EDM music? 90% of the music I listen to is EDM, and the rest is various music I deem "good." How would they handle something like Colbie Caillat? I understand they are a "solid bass" headphone, with a greater emphasis on *quality* of...- depaulhifi

Am I taking a chance on a "refurbished" Amperior????
Quote: Factory refurbs come with a 90 day warranty. You pretty much can't go wrong given that every part on the HD25/Amperior can be replaced. I'm about to pull the trigger on a refurb'd Amperior in blue. I was sold when I read that their signature is very much like the Shure...- depaulhifi

DT880 noise isolation?
I'm just about to buy a pair of these guys, as a sort of Christmas present to myself. They will surely be the 32 ohm version, as they will be driven off a 5G iPod 99% of the time. My question is regarding their noise cancellation/isolation. I will be using these "out in the world" in downtown...- depaulhifi

Why aren't all headphones 32 Ohms?
I know that 32 ohm headphones will seem "louder" when driven from an iPod. The differences in volume between my 21 ohm UE 5pro's and my 64 ohm HD-280's are night and day. But sonically there isn't much noticeable difference in the 32 ohm DT880 to the 250 ohm, are there?- depaulhifi

Why aren't all headphones 32 Ohms?
I'm glad this thread was posted, as I was about to post one asking nearly the same question. Can anyone come up with a reason I would not want to buy the 32 ohm DT880? They will be driven off a 5G iPod 99% of the time.- depaulhifi

Ultimate Ears are making me deaf!
If its too loud, you're too old!!! Ha ha.. Just kidding.. in my defense... I don't blast it all the time, but sometimes *that" song comes on and you just have to scratch that "live sound" itch.- depaulhifi

Ultimate Ears are making me deaf!
I've had my super.fi 5pro's for about 6 months now and I am still loving them. One thing though, I find myself listening to them a lot louder now than I did when I first got them. At first, I feel like I used them to their intended purpose. I listened to them at a reasonable volume (50-60%...- depaulhifi

128kbps AAC good enough?
If you ask me, 128k AAC is more than adequate for a portable player. I have ripped several CD's into both Apple Lossless and 128k AAC and I can't hear the difference. Don't think there is anything wrong with your ears, just revel in having more music to pick from on the go.- depaulhifi

Do the buttons on Grados matter sonically?
Yes! Removing them makes a huge sonic difference! With them out they can pass 0.0000000017 CFM more air and this allows them to be more "balanced", "neutral", and especially "airy'! Seriously though... I can't imagine such a minute change having any affect on the sound, regardless of what...- depaulhifi

interested in buying my first hi-fi headphone
You should get the be all, end all Bose Triport! Seriously though, out of the choices given, I would go for the HD595's. They are remarkably comfortable and you'll soon forget they're on your melon. They have most of the Sennheiser "magic" found in the higher models at a lower price. Advice...- depaulhifi
