Recommend me a good mainly "metal music" setup/rig please ? (Spend my money!!)

Oh, i didn't get the momentums as a primary replacement - you're right though with the momentums sounding a little lifeless and slow for metal, especially when i come straight off the amperiors which is quite lively and really fast.   My amperiors are still the main ones, as metal honestly...

Sennheiser amperior or vmoda m80 for metal?

My favourite band of all time , though i do prefer their really early stuff - Orchid's my favourite album. I saw them live earlier this year in Sydney, Aus - frigging brilliant man! My neck/back was sore for 2 days from the headbanging ahah.   The Fiio... more of a personal choice i think...

Recommend me a good mainly "metal music" setup/rig please ? (Spend my money!!)

I find if the music is good enough, i manage to connect to it and get lost anyways (and the lack of quality at that point doesn't matter).. but only the really good stuff gets me in that addictive lost/connected zone :)   I had a look at the alpha dogs and really really like what i read...

Recommend me a good mainly "metal music" setup/rig please ? (Spend my money!!)

Hi davidsh,   Thanks for your input - i appreciate it and sitting here right now am actually kind of agreeing too. I have my portable rig on at the moment listening to some 90's melo-death and it's bringing out recording/production artifacts that i have never noticed before on this album...

Sennheiser amperior or vmoda m80 for metal?

What the above poster said :)   I pulled on mine then while pulling gently wiggled them back and forth (as in frontwards to backwards) and they came off after that.   Regarding which cable... i guess probably the custom cans one ? It's slightly more in terms of dollar but like i said i...

Sennheiser amperior or vmoda m80 for metal?

Quote: \m/ !   There are a few options i think. You can get senn hd650 stock cables and use those (budget option) but you lose the single entry.. with these you'll need to flip the cups upside down to allow dual entry.   The easily accessible ones are...

    Momentum vs. M-100

I've read on here the momentum on ears are less neutral than the original momentums..something about more bass iirc.   I haven't really heard all the nice headphones on here that ppl rave about but just wanted to put my 2c in that the sennheiser amperiors are awesome for metal. I also listen...

Sennheiser amperior or vmoda m80 for metal?

Regarding the amperiors with vocals that seem behind/recessed - this was exactly what i thought too when i bought my pair and stuck some dark tranquillity on.   However, after burn-in, the bass/punch has subsided a bit, the highs became clearer and the vocals have come forward a bit so don't...

Recommend me a good mainly "metal music" setup/rig please ? (Spend my money!!)

Hi all,   The bug has bitten argh! Well, somewhat..   I have decided to start seriously looking into a mainly home rig (but can still, with some effort, be taken around).   Let's say i have $1k AUD ALL UP i'm willing to spend, that would be inclusive of headphones, amp/dac...

Sennheiser Amperior cable upgrade worth it for rock/metal?

Hi all,   Just wondering if anyone knows/has an opinion as to whether a cable upgrade on a set of Senn Amperiors is worth it? Music is primary metal, and i do enjoy the rough sounds of metal music... i guess what i'd like to know is will a cable upgrade remove that fun factor or manage to...

Hey guys,   Just wanted to thank you guys for responding/helping me out and thought i'd share how i got on...   After this thread and some more research/lurking haha... i was pretty much set on skipping the amp for the moment and buying a pair of Grado SR80i and ATH-M50 for outside...

Newbie "Hi" + looking for bang for buck cans (metal music)

Hey Vanhiel,   Thanks for the input, i'll be sure to check out the Grados now. Either the aforementioned 80 or the 225s that you had. Did a quick check on pricing and am happy to pay for the 225s  + amp.   I really really am too lazy to re-rip my music ahah... maybe i'll re-rip some favs...

Newbie "Hi" + looking for bang for buck cans (metal music)

Hi!   Thanks heaps for the recommendation. I've already started looking into and am liking what i'm reading.   Any chance for a recommendation of a closed back one as well? At that price point, i might get a pair of closed and open :D   Thanks again.

Hi all!   Awesome forum, been lurking for a little while just reading and searching through and trying to understand things better :)   Unfortunately with the rapid release of products and flavour of month etc, i'm having trouble tracking down some ideal cans for myself.   I'm...
