So many DAC choices, no where to demo them.

The receiver does have digital inputs, but this is besides the point. The receivers inputs will be nowhere near the quality of a dedicated dac. I will also be using a completely different integrated amp (or dedicated source components) with in the year.

So many DAC choices, no where to demo them.

I'm looking for a dac for my HiFi system for 2 channel audio. I would like a minimum of a 24bit/96khz capability, but would prefer 24/192. My budget is $1000, because I want to buy something that will last me a long time (I don't like buying a product that I will feel like upgrading in a couple...

    Connect Computer to HiFi system

Going from the computer to the HiFi, all I care about is 2 channel audio as the computer is just a music server. I might add in a sub if I feel I'm lacking bass.

Can Gear make up for source material?

My first thought was no it can't, once its lost there is no way to make it get even close to its potential but then I watched a PeachTree audio review on the MusicBox and they claimed that it was designed to make up for some of the compression. I ask because I have tons of music and a pretty...
