Schiit Gungnir DAC
Thanks I'm already very impressed with the Gumby and it's really only been on for around 2 days now:) 10 days lol. I actually work out of town for 14 days on and 7 days off, so I don't really plan on leaving the Gumby on for the 14 days when I am not even at home:) But I am actually...- Dave74

Schiit Gungnir DAC
I finally decided to order a GUMBY after reading so many good things about Schiit's multibit DACS and how natural they sound. Plus, I really like their business motto/ethics. I was a little hesitant as the CND$ is low now and the cost was around $2000 CND for the WYRD and GUMBY after taxes. ...- Dave74

Sennheiser x Massdrop HD6XX Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV
I agree. I just purchased a pair of HD650 around Black Friday and they were waiting for me when I got back from work on Friday (worked a 21 day shift out of town) and I was surprised that I prefer them with my Cypher Labs Sustain84, which is a SE Class A tube amp, over my Liquid Carbon...- Dave74

Cypher Labs Sustain84 Desktop Vacuum Tube Headphone Amplifier
Hi concreteroze, Sorry for the late reply, I don't think I received a notification that you had quoted me. I never did try a Microzotl 2.0 so I can't help you with that, sorry. I finally ordered a pair of HD650's though on Black Friday, and they were waiting at home for me after I...- Dave74

Astell&Kern AK380
I'll list a bunch of 80's groups that I listen to that I find are recoded well. They might not all be your cup of tea but hopefully you can find a few songs you like. Dire Straights Brothers in arms and Walk of Life are pretty amazing songs, also check out Prices Bride as he wrote the...- Dave74

Cavalli Audio's Liquid Carbon Owners Impressions
I get the SE hum when using my Hugo RCA(SE) output to LC. I have never tried a balanced source as I no longer have one. This now is making me wonder if it is due to the Hugo being battery powered (no path to ground) so it is creating a ground loop? Unfortunately I no longer have a desktop DAC...- Dave74

Light Harmonic Geek Wave
Yes, even though I have never heard an R2R DAC I wish I had gone that route instead of my Hugo (which I love), but I doubt that the Hugo could compare to a desktop R2R DAC at a similar price point... I bought the Hugo at the time while waiting on the Wave as I work out of town. I probably would...- Dave74

I'm in for Geek Wave XD128 $899+$128IEM PGK+$256DAD Upgrade+$168THD Performance PKG+$74Bluetooth+$67WiFi+$22 ESS DAC 9018AQ2M = $1614. I would prefer a refund as well, but I know that that will not happen. I am also unsure if I will like a Sabre DAC as a previous owner of an AudioLab...- Dave74

Yes. I think Ken also mentions it in his tube rolling video and he said you could cut it if you do not want the LED light.- Dave74

The all new Continental Dual Mono
Thanks for the tips, I agree I definitely need more practice before I will use one of these in my CDM. I am aware of short circuits as I have been an electrician for the past 16 years and realize the problems they will cause so I will be careful of this, thanks. I could see potentially...- Dave74

The all new Continental Dual Mono
I only went this route because the 5719 Sontone tubes weren't in stock from ALO and you can order a large batch of tubes off of eBay. I had some tips from a friend on how to solder and I also watched a few videos on YouTube about how to solder electronics. Then I made some attempts on a...- Dave74

Thanks guys. This is my first attempt at soldering, asides from practicing on a practice board. I am going to order some helping hands with magnifying glass and finer soldering tips.- Dave74

The all new Continental Dual Mono
Hi, I just received my CDM last week and even with very limited use so far (bought it for out of town) I am loving the sound. I would however like to try the Sonotone 5719 tubes as they run cooler and will increase battery life. Since they weren't in stock at ALO I just ordered the PCB...- Dave74
