Comment by 'Danz03' in item 'Meze Audio Empyrean'

Never in a million years would I have imagined myself burning this much money on a pair of headphones, and interestingly, from Romania; which isn’t particularly famous for its technological innovations or audio products. I was originally going the demo MrSpeakers Ether 2, the staff recommended I...

    Audeze LCD-2 Closed

Never liked any closed headphones, including all the Audeze ones, (EL-8 closed being the worst, worse than Apple’s earbuds in my opinion), the treble always sounds distorted and weird, even though I love the extended bass frequencies. Hope these will change my mind about closed HPs. :-S

    Audeze LCD-MX4

Interesting review. I was interested in the LCD-4X because Audeze has been claiming them to be the light-weight version of LCD-X designed for long mixing sessions for engineers; but according to your review, they are anything but accurate. I stopped using my LCD-X since MrSpeakers Ether came...

    Noble Audio - Introducing KATANA

But if you really dislike harshness, to me, Westone W60's highs are smooth as silk, with very deep low extensions.

    Noble Audio - Introducing KATANA

Yes the SE846 can be a bit harsh, the Encore is like an improved SE846, whereas the Katana is crisp and clear. You really need to demo them before purchasing.

    Noble Audio - Introducing KATANA

They are expensive but they are in a way quite perfect as one can adjust them to whatever sound signature one desires. To me, the Katana has crisp punchy bass, but not deep and thumping like the SE846 if you know what I mean. BTW, which filters did you use on your SE846? Have you tried out all...

    Noble Audio - Introducing KATANA

I used to have a pair of the old black colored K10U, they have very similar sound signature to my Encore but I was told the newer aluminum ones (K10U) have more (or too much bass. I use mine with balanced cable with my AK240, I think they do work very well together. But recently I took out my...

    Noble Audio - Introducing KATANA

If you’re looking for deep thumping bass, you should totally forget the Katana and look into Encore instead. Katana really lacks deep low bass. I’m not a bass head at all but I look for IEMs with accurate and balanced sound signature, Katana might sound detailed and crystal clear but it lacks...

    Audeze LCD-MX4

I was a huge Audeze fan too, been so since they first released the LCD-2 and owned all their products up till they released the god awful EL-8. I got the iSine 20 because there were no demoing available, maybe I wouldn’t have bought them if there were. Still, since I have the iPhone X now with...

    Audeze LCD-MX4

You are right, my iSine 20 didn't sound right using the 3.5mm jack, but with careful EQing with the Audeze app, they sound great, especially the bass, which is deep and lower than most of my other headphones or IEMs. Now with my iPhone X, I don't have much choice but to use the lightning...

Shure SE846 vs Noble Kaiser Encore?

If you are sensitive to sharp treble, why do you even have a pair of HD800??? Comparing to the HD800, the Encore are dull sounding!   To me, the SE846 are a little bit bass heavy with the white filter, with the blue filter (and olive tips), they sound more balanced to my ears. I used to think...

Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones

I'm not so sure, just got a pair of iSine 20 today, out of the box and using my AK240 as source didn't impress me at all, the low bass frequencies were lacking compare to my LCD-X. With the Lightning cable and my iPhone 6 (the Audeze app isn't very stable, doesn't always work properly, but when...

    Westone UM PRO Series Thread

The Pro series is marketed as IEMs for professionals, professionals need proper specs, one cannot market a mic as a general purpose mic when it's specifily designed for recording bass and kick drum. Like how the Pro 50 are desigbeed for, bassist and drummers, as confirmed by the Westone rep...

    Westone UM PRO Series Thread

People like me at least. I used to be able to just trust Westone products to give me a decent balanced sound signature, especially the UM or Pro series, the Pro 50 totally changed my view about Westone, I would have gotten the W80 without even a second though after demoing them but now I find...

    Westone UM PRO Series Thread

I think they sure let a lot of people down, especially profession musicians or engineers. i.e. Shure specifically marketed SM58 as a vocal mic and Beta 52A as a mic for kick drum or bass cabinet, anyone can use them for other instruments etc if they want to, but at least we know what they are...
