    New Audeze LCD3

"Just" the regular Hugo.  Awesome little box of magic

    New Audeze LCD3

Perhaps I should have been more precise.  What I meant is that no separate amp is required when powered from the Hugo.  It really doesn't with the music we're discussing.  I owned a Burson Soloist SL but sold it not long after getting the Hugo - no point with either of the cans mentioned.

    New Audeze LCD3

Interesting that quite a few people appear to have settled on this combination of headphones.  I too have the HD800 and LCD3 and am delighted with them.  Straight out of a Hugo - no amp required for either of these.  Just grab the HD800 for classical/live/choral/brass etc and LCD3s for...

    Chord Electronics 2Qute DAC announced

Thanks Rob but your answer simply confirms that there's a lot of stuff I still don't understand ... at all    What I don't understand is that there's a lot of "stuff" that can cause complications getting the digital information from source to the DAC chip but providing you have decent kit...

    Chord Electronics 2Qute DAC announced

Hi Rob,   As a computer geek I'm inclined to be one of the "bits are bits" thinkers but after your explanation some time ago about how USB can be "noisy" I had a mini Eureka moment .  Suddenly I understood why different transports could have a perceivable difference in sound.  Your comment...

The Chord Hugo TT is announced.

Thanks OK-Guy for arranging this.  Very interested to hear the feedback from the lucky so and so's who got in on this    I purchased my Hugo after hearing it (and the TT) at the Bristol show.  It was the first time I'd heard either and it was far from an ideal listening environment but the TT...

How to equalize your headphones: A Tutorial

Even if you do say so yourself!   ... oh you mean the most important thread?    (Sorry, just teasing ... and made 100 posts now!  )

Chord Hugo - The PORTABLE discussion thread

I've spent (wasted?) a lot of money on headphones over recent years but have ended up being delighted with a very similar setup (only with LCD3 instead of X).  I also love my HD800 out of the Hugo for classical/choral/live music but agree with sp3llv3xit that for many other types of music the...

Astell & Kern Junior (AK Jr.) Impressions Thread

Never once have I tried to tweet something or check my mail with the Jr .    It's a capacitive touch screen system on a device that is capable of holding many (MANY) gigabytes of music files.  It also costs a lot of money.     Plain and simple the interface should not suck.

Astell & Kern Junior (AK Jr.) Impressions Thread

A poll would be interesting - although I still wonder if mine is faulty vs my expectations being "high"   I'm not sure that I agree with your next point though that it should be a one thing (UI) or the other (SQ) that is important.  Would you be happy buying a brand new Ferrari where...

Astell & Kern Junior (AK Jr.) Impressions Thread

Good to hear other opinions but to be clear waiting a few seconds before swiping make zero difference in my case.  Also it makes no difference how gently/slowly I touch the screen there is still an unacceptable delay when returning to the list of albums/artists.   You could be right that...

Astell & Kern Junior (AK Jr.) Impressions Thread

So effectively you're saying I'm "touching it wrong"?  ... or maybe my finger is faulty?    I'm pulling your leg and do appreciate the suggestion but I own many capacitive touch screen devices (and have used possibly hundreds) and have never had this problem elsewhere.   In addition, the...
