    ZMF Verite Open

I find myself switching between the lambskin perf. Verite pad and the suede perf. Universe pad. The Verite pad brings a lot of slam in the bass as well as being more detailed throughout the spectrum, whereas the Universe pad sounds a lot closer to neutral while softening the hard edges of the...

Rank the Headphones that You Own.

Had a few headphones come and go through my collection, here are what I've settled with for my top 5 right now: 1. ZMF Vérité Open 2. MrSpeakers Ether C Flow 1.1 3. Sennheiser HD800 w/ SDR mod 4. Monoprice M1060 w/ vegan pads 5. Sennheiser HD6XX/600

Best headphone with BIGGEST bass, and containment of detail and clarity

You're not going to get the bass you're looking for from any of those Sennheiser's you have listed. HD650 has sub-bass roll-off and HD800 are more treble emphasized (though are the most detailed headphones I own). Unfortunately haven't heard any Ultrasone headphones so can't chime in on those...

    Tung Sol 6f8g versions

Haven't had the chance to try a flat plate, but the round plate TS 6F8G is highly superior to the ladder plate. The ladder plate is mediocre at best, whereas the round plate is top tier and probably my favorite tube at the moment. It's really a night and day difference; the round plate provides...

MrSpeakers Ether CX - $899 from Massdrop

Yeah the pads should be removable. Try twisting them around the cup first, they might just be super tight because they're a fresh pair. That should be enough to get them lined back up. I personally line the seam up to the screw on the front, but everyone has different ears so see what works for...

Help me choose which Fostex can

While I haven't heard the TH-610's, I believe they should be more close to neutral/U-shape than any of the X00's, which are generally considered V-shaped. Ebony wood would be the best choice of X00 for the least V-shape. To be honest almost everything in the Fostex lineup is bass and treble...

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones

Definitely try them with a different amp. From my experience, the Schiit Jotunheim pairs much better with the Ether's than the 789. The Jot brings a lot more body in the bass region and more color to the music overall.

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

I've spent about a week so far with the HD660s on rental through Sennheiser's Sound Club program and am liking them a lot. My 6XX's have seen a lot less use due to me preferring less midbass-focused (and not as dark) headphones, and the 660s seem to fulfill that while also bringing in more...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

Unfortunately the 3.5mm jack on the X2 is only wired for 3-pole unbalanced, sharing a ground for both left and right driver. Unless you open up the headphones and rewire the drivers separately, you won't be able to run them balanced.

Bottlehead Amplifier Discussion / Comparison Thread: Crack, SEX & Mainline

Yup I agree that the 6F8G is definitely more microphonic than my other tubes, however this is much different from the common tube quirks. This is like a really loud 150Hz buzz being played at 80% volume. The first time it happened I thought something had shorted within the amp and was genuinely...

Bottlehead Amplifier Discussion / Comparison Thread: Crack, SEX & Mainline

Has anyone encountered a tube that produces a really loud static noise when the volume pot is turned all the way down? Currently having this problem with my RCA 6F8G, does not happen with any of my other 6F8G's using the same adapter or with my 12AU7's. Sucks because it's probably my favorite...

Khadas Tone Board DAC = WOW!

Thought I'd share my custom acrylic case for the Khadas Tone Board. Didn't account for the lengths of the stock standoffs in the design process but to my surprise they actually worked out after a bit of modding! Need to make a few more adjustments to the final product, but hoping to be able to...
