help compiling a short list
Hi guys, Long-time audiophile here, who occasionally reads a headphone review, but it's my weakest spot. Ask me anything you like about valve amps etc - more my thing. Anyway, decided ''time for some better cans''. Weirdly, I have lots of decent headphone amplifiers. Right now, I'm sitting...- chrisjsmith11

help narrow a valve amp shortlist
its the kt120 one. just realises how expensive KT120's are :O It takes kt88s aswell. Im a bit nervous about plugging my head into an amp with no output transformers, and valve bases directly soldered onto a PCB. what could possibly go wrong? unfortunately I am not uncle fester....- chrisjsmith11

help narrow a valve amp shortlist
Hi all. A 10-year-lurker, and Audiophile for about 20 years here. I'll keep it brief, looking for some input from people that have experienced multiple headphone valve amps. Just ordered some Drop 6XX cans, should be here in a few weeks. I feel like giving them a present - I've always loved...- chrisjsmith11

John Linsley Hood Amplifier completed
I'm adding a post to this ancient thread - bringing it back from the dead in 2021. I have this amp, bought it used for not much about a year ago, and it's great. It was my first foray into a decent head amp. Getting more into headphones and head-amps, I am now curious what will significantly...- chrisjsmith11

replacement for AKG 702?
I find the 702's fatigue free, because I can forget I'm wearing them (I sometimes do). Currently using my spare cans, which are V-moda ones. They make my ears hot and it's a relief to take them off ! :)- chrisjsmith11

they look amazing! - about £500-£600 used though, at least currently on Ebay :( The lcd-1 is cheap, but probably not as good?- chrisjsmith11

replacement for AKG 702?
Hi people, I accidentally posted this in the wrong forum (portable gear)... if any MOD reads this, do feel free to delete the other one ! Hi all I have for years owned AKG702s. They have bitten the dust, sadly. What I love about them is the ''out of body experience'' - a fatigue free listen...- chrisjsmith11

Hi all I have for years owned AKG702s. They have bitten the dust, sadly. What I love about them is the ''out of body experience'' - a fatigue free listen, they sit softly on the head, and there's a 3d all enveloping nature to them. Almost like an in-room experience. I prefer this to a more...- chrisjsmith11

essential jazz vinyl, late 50's early 60's.
Hi all I'm trying to flush out my jazz vinyl with essential albums from the late 50's and early 60's. There are a vast swathe of albums from that period - so I thought if perhaps I give the forum jazz experts a few of my existing favourites, you could reccomend a few ''more of the...- chrisjsmith11

missing link, a better amp?
Hi All... I've seen the RSA (tiny) amplifier that fits this bill, but its too dear for me. What a battery life though, and the size !! :O I wonder if there's somethng a little larger that still has a USB rechargeable battery life (30+ hours)... that's the key thing... and the sound quality...- chrisjsmith11
