List of entry level TUBE amps + mod for less than $300

Project Ember from garage1217,it's an excellent headphone hybrid amp, very powerful and versatile (can drive the majority of cans, from grado to AKG K1000, from Sennheiser HD800 to Hifiman HE6), you can tune your sound with different settings (output impedance, gain, use of the input...

Project Sunrise/PS2 Tube Rolling Thread (and maybe even Project Horizon and Project Ember)

Hi, can you say the max time i can use 12BH7 on the ember?   is it safe to use it 8 or 9 hours consecutively?   i noticed that 6n1p have also a 600mA heater current (like 12BH7), are these tubes are really the same consumption in current?

Recomend me a 'good' entry level tube headphone amp.

I have made a direct comparison between my Audio-Gd C2 (same power than the NFB-15 amp) and the Ember, i can say that an Ember has no problems to drive an AKG K340, or even a K1000, the C2 had not enough juice for it, it's an hybrid : tube for voltage and MOS for current, i'm simplify by...

This kind of question is not related to audio nor the Ember it self, the one who can say if you get value for money deals is YOU !

Project Ember from garage1217, it pairs very well with Audio-Gd DAC, it have enough juice to transform T50RPs into desktop speakers, and the sound is great !

Try to use an usb extension cable to put the USB Wireless device away from your amplifier.   You can try ECC81 or 6N2P-EV (triple mica version from before 70s sound great) they're high-gain tubes (12AX7 are too "rough sounding" imo)

I was under the same impression but on the Ember gain setting seems to act differently than on the other amps, give it a try and tell me if it works.   Other tips to reduce external noise to impact on the sound is to use a 12V heater tube with a reasonable inside gain (ECC81/12AT7...

Quote: I think you can ask for a built project Ember for review, There was a "Ember Euro Tour" in the past to let people try the amp, so you could ask to get a review unit, if you send back the unit once review completed i think it should be no problems.   This Ember need a real...
