K1000 terminates in 1/4" plug with "Cable manufactured for AKG"
Took a look at a K1000 last night; the cable terminated in a 1/4" plug. On the cable was written "cable manufactured for AKG." I assume that all K1000s originally had an XLR termination, so I'm wondering what outfit would likely have performed this job, using cable "manufactured for AKG."...- BWV988

Anyone here at the moment who owns a bass-heavy K1000?
I have a matter requiring clarification by someone who has at hand an early, bass-heavy K1000. Please PM me at your earliest convenience for details. Many thanks in advance!- BWV988

Renaissance Music reccomendations anybody ?
A man who was truly, in his style of music, one of the last Medieval as well as one of the first Renaissance composers: Alexander Agricola. His Missa In myne Zyn is wonderful. -
Under-appreciated or little known classical music?
Catherine Christer Hennix is certainly under-appreciated! -
Best Decade for Music
70s - 80s - 90s... it's all good! (1370s-80s-90s, that is!) -
Unpopular/Uncommon Musical Opinions
While I am none too fond of any "radio music" (from the 30s through the 00s), I have come to especially loathe the anguished vocals of some U2-wannabe (not that I would rather actually be hearing U2!!) whose vocal posturings I am forced to endure almost every time I enter a certain discount... -
Favorite Living Classical Composer
Reich's 18 Musicians would still have to be my favourite work by a (major) living composer. Pretty much lost interest in his music after the works that followed, Large Ensemble and Octet. Nothing that came later quite matched the glory and grandeur of 18 for me. -
Instrumental music to go to sleep to
Gavin Bryars - Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet (originally released on Eno's old Obscure label in -- what was it? 1976?) Eminently soporific! -
What Are You Listening To Right Now?

Tempted by the akg k701, advices ?
Quote: Unless you need monster bass, why not pick up a used K501 from ebay for around 90 Euros, and spend the rest on a good amp? If you want a richer bass on the 501, you can then invest in some 601 earpads. A better plan, I think, then paying full price for a new 701.- BWV988

Any HD800 owners go back to AKG K701/2?
At 1/14th to 1/10th the price of new HD 800s, a pair of used K501s are the way to go for those who enjoy acoustic, bass-light music, and don't like the 701/2's mids or headbands. All that's needed, these days, is a little patience.- BWV988
