No matter how hard I try I do not like the HD600's (but I love my HD650's). What's wrong with me?
Sounds like you have finally learned what a preference is. Is there something wrong with you? I don't think so. Is there something wrong with me for liking Beyerdynamic DT880 over T1? I don't think so. It doesn't matter if you like the general sound signature of Sennheiser. At the end of the...- Boffy

Fostex TH500RP anyone heard them and compared them to the HD650?
I own the HD650, but I only tried the TH500RP at a local headphone shop for about 40 minutes. The first thing that I notice right away is that TH500RP has less bass, so yes I do think the bass roll off is indeed worse. However, because TH500 has less bass, there is more air in the treble than...- Boffy

[Review] AKG K545: A new benchmark in portable audio
Thanks for the wonderful review, now I am really tempted to buy this can. I have a question though, and I am wondering if you can answer it for me. When you were listening to Yanagi Nagi's Tokohana, did you experience any sibilance from her voice at all? I am very sensitive to sibilance, and...- Boffy

PHA-3 vs AK240??
Well, first of all PHA 3 is a DAC/Amp while AK240 is a DAP. In other words, you can't listen to PHA 3 with just headphones because you will need something to store your music, like a phone, Walkman, laptop, etc. Anyway, I don't own either of them but I have listened to them both for an...- Boffy

Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone
Yeah, I apologize. He was selling 2, not 3. My mistake. It's kind of sad, but unfortunately there are very few audiophiles in this world. Only 500 Aedle VK-1Limited Edition were made, but they are being sold on Amazon and at the local headphone shop that takes 10 minutes for me...- Boffy

Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone
You would be very surprised by how many people actually own Orpheus. I saw someone that owned 3 Orpheuses trying to sell all 3 of them in the Trade/Sale section couple months ago. Two friends that I know in real life own them, and one of them is active at Golden Ears. Despite its limited...- Boffy

$1000 budget, should I go open or closed?
Correct me if I am wrong, I am by no means trying to offend anyone here, but is there even a such thing as portable open back headphone? What do you mean when you say you want a headphone that you can take with you? Are you trying to use them on a bus or a plane? My experience with open back...- Boffy

The Audeze LCD-2 Ortho thread (New)
I would love to get an old one without Fazor, but I want to buy a new one, not used. I already got scammed once at Head-Fi, so I learned my lesson not to buy a used headphone, regardless of who the seller is. If Audeze sold brand new pair of LCD 2 Rev 1, then I probably wouldn't be posting in...- Boffy

The Audeze LCD-2 Ortho thread (New)
Sorry to keep bringing this up, but I have another question regarding LCD2, HD600, and HD650. I found HD600 to be harsh and sibilant, but not much so on HD650. What are the chances that I will find LCD2 with Fazor to be sibilant? I am only 17 years old, so I am very sensitive to high frequency...- Boffy

Multi-IEM Review - 352 IEMs compared (Pump Audio Earphones added 04/03/16 p. 1106)
Hey Joker, thanks for the great reviews. I currently have an InEar LivePro 2, which is the custom version of InEar StageDiver 2. I am looking for an upgrade, but I want pretty much the exact same sound signature as SD-2. I want an IEM that is neutral from the bass to the highs, just like the...- Boffy

AKG K701 - The best amp money can buy?
Well, I am using a Woo Audio WA7 Fireflies (~$999) to drive the K701, and they sound great. But, I am almost certain that there are better and more expensive amps out there that can drive your K701 even better. So, let me ask you again: What is your budget? Is it unlimited or is it $1,000? If it...- Boffy

Disappointed in the "audiophile" community...
I apologize if I am stating the obvious, but there is more to it than a flat response when it comes to "hi-fi," no? If absolute neutrality was the zenith of what a headphone could achieve, by that definition, I think many would agree that Sennheiser HD600 or Etymotic ER4 are superior than...- Boffy

Where is the sweet spot for quality headphones?
I personally don't think the car analogy works with headphones, at least in terms of build quality. For example, Tralucent 1+2 IEM (~$1,000) uses cheap plastic housing with flimsy cable. On the other hand, Yamaha EPH 100 IEM (~$100) uses metal as construction and is built like a tank. I...- Boffy
