Sennheiser IE80's Impressions Thread
Super long post warning. Quote: Wonderful information james444. Although you break my heart when you tell the IE80 are anything but good at guitars, It is nice to have such detailed acoustic information about the IEM itself. But anyway... Dear IE80 Entuthiasts. Today marks my...- BlackDog

Sennheiser IE80's Impressions Thread
I have never understood the V-shaped sound for Rock (and heavy metal for that matter). You see, before the IE80 (assuming the last isn't v-shaped) I always used to boost the mids because the bass and treble kept overshadowing guitar. Not once I have set my EQ's on a V-shaped sound (neutral...- BlackDog

The "speed" of headphones
I'm sorry for break the original discussion that has been trough this pages. But I was wondering if there is any way to "speed up" the headphones using the "wonders" of digital EQ. More precisely, I want to "speed up" the rhythm guitar on the heavy metal genre. Is there any way to achieve...- BlackDog

CD (or Vinyl) to Flac to MP3 vs CD (or Vinyl) to Mp3
Good evening. This question has been probably asked a gazillion times before, but I just cant find a topic addressing this. My doubt is the following. Take a CD, convert it to FLAC, and convert the latter to MP3 (320kbps for the sake of this argument). Now, take the same CD, and convert it...- BlackDog

Thank you very much for you kind response! Indeed, it is really difficult to describe and understand sound in terms of words and not purely on sound.I wish there was some kind of headphone store was created that would let you try all the phones so you could make the best choice. Sadly, I...- BlackDog

Sennheiser IE80's Impressions Thread
I did read many reviews. As a matter of fact, I've read all the reviews on this site, as well on others. You see, the only thing I missed was this topic where some users complained about the sound signature of the IE80 with heavy metal (I recall someone saying they managed to drive any genre...- BlackDog

Sennheiser IE80's Impressions Thread
Big wall of frustration coming up. Dear IE80 enthusiast. Today it marks my first month with my IE80 and I can't even express how much frustration, sadness and disappointment I feel. Yesterday was my breaking point where I concluded I just hate the IE80. For the life of me, I just can't get...- BlackDog

I wasn't looking for a precise neutral flat IEM (I'm really bad at describing the sound I want, sorry). I was looking something with nice instrument separation, clarity that also had some "spark" added to it. Doing lots of experimentation with the EQ I managed to find the kind of sound...- BlackDog

It is such a shame. I mean, they are great IEMs (classical sounds gorgeous) but perhaps they are not suited for me. Would you consider a Shure 535 a better option?- BlackDog

Hello IE80 enthusiasts! I recently bought this IEMs in full retail price and I can't say I'm completely pleased. It hasnt been a let down but it isn't either the iem I was expecting. I'm in love of instrument separation and music clarity. I feel I can listen everything with great depth...- BlackDog

Sony Walkman NWZ-A17
@RockStar2005 Huge wall of text incoming. Aside from all the Z3 rant and other random comments, all of this is releated to the A17. I beg you pardon if I drifted away too much from the main topic, but I needed to explain all of what you see so you can have elements to answer my questions. I...- BlackDog

Is it worth to buy a portable DAP aside from a Smartphone?
Thank you very much for your reply! (I was loosing hope in this matter). Yes, the HTC has some impressive DAC for it's kind (the speakers blow me away), however it isn't the best . As a matter of fact, the best DAC built in a phone is the one found on the Z3. Also, the Z3 has some "gimmicks"...- BlackDog

Sony Walkman NWZ-A17
Hello Rockstar (and every Walkman fan out there). I've recently switched from an Xperia Z3 to an HTC M9. Why I did it? I could give you some reasons but in the end it was complete stupidity for not checking Head Fi first. Now let me tell you, I loved the way my Z3 handled my tunes. I know you...- BlackDog
