Hifiman IEM's: RE-400 and RE-600
RE-800 have exactly this kind of sound, but require deep insertion or they get your typical uncompensated flat splashy treble otherwise. Of course they're expensive.- AstralStorm

WICH IEM HAS THE FLATTEST SOUND SIGNATURE..
I suspect this is HRTF uncompensated measurement (other than being inaccurate on the whole), so the raised 3kHz region is mostly correct and will sound equal loudness mostly. Still, which Samsung earphones? They have magic letters + numbers naming scheme... E.g. compare...- AstralStorm

WICH IEM HAS THE FLATTEST SOUND SIGNATURE..
The chart shows the measurement was done at a few discrete points and linear interpolation has been applied. It's neither raw nor compensated nor smoothed in usual way with smoothing described. No idea what to make of it - it could hide any number of peaks. Also Galaxy which?- AstralStorm

WICH IEM HAS THE FLATTEST SOUND SIGNATURE..
No IEM is really even, so the best you can ask for is the FR to be smooth and non-resonant, so that you can easily correct it. For instance, InEar Stagediver SD-2 is only properly cleanly smooth when equipped with Comply, where you trade a lot of rolloff for the smoothness - which then has...- AstralStorm

Could noise canceling headphones cause hearing damage?
I wouldn't exactly call ANR delivering unperceived energy. The wave physics involved are quite well understood - what happens is the typical wave cancellation. The static pressure thing is essentially not being able to cancel near DC and imperfect cancellation potentially generating near-DC...- AstralStorm

Custom Tips For Universal IEM's Overrated?
As a budding technician hobbyist myself I can tell you the positive-negative-positive process is very involved and I'm missing a few steps. Just making a mold with an air hole makes for a very well fitting, but slightly loose plug. Moreover the impression surface is precise enough to actually...- AstralStorm

[Review] InEar StageDiver 4, a high-end universal IEM!
It seems that SD-4 is just not as much of a steal as SD-2 is or people who want to invest 650 EUR find themselves buying one of the cheaper CIEMs instead. I'm pretty sure that the more V signature will likely not respond well to Comply as SD-2 and I am pretty sure the extra clarity gain is small...- AstralStorm

New Custom-to-Universal IEMs: InEar StageDiver 2/3
Hello, I've been having fun using these InEar StageDiver 2 for about 2 weeks now with direct comparison against some heavyweighs such as Spiral Ear SE-5 referec, modified Sony MH1C, modified Hifiman RE-400, RE-300, Brainwavz B2 and Philips Fidelio S2. Including against headphones - modded...- AstralStorm

Multi-IEM Review - 352 IEMs compared (Pump Audio Earphones added 04/03/16 p. 1106)
In case someone is curious about Philips Fidelio S2 as I were, they're quite great, if splashy. However, it turns out it's all only in frequency response - relatively easy to follow even on a limited EQ. Fixing this issue also vastly improves soundstage, opening it up. The fit as with all...- AstralStorm

Just as a reminder, these are not the best headphones ever. Just potentially the best headphones in this form factor.- AstralStorm

New Hifiman Flagship (together with Unique Melody): RE1000
Yes, about the only BA out there approaching dynamic driver bass quality I know is Spiral Ear SE5 and its distortion and signature leave quite a bit to be desired, esp. for the price. I wager the woofer is tweaked RE300 while full range is a further development of RE600, hopefully bit less...- AstralStorm

Are binaural recordings higher quality than normal ones?
Can you render a very near source reliably using any number of speakers? Try it, it is a very hard problem. Rendering farther sources is also doubtful. Attempt a source set directly to your left, or to right. Contrary, using headphones I can localize the sources anywhere I want. In a...- AstralStorm

HIFIMAN RE300a/ RE300i InLine and RE300h (hifi) Earphone launched! *Impressions added*
QC? Fit and sound? Not really. RE-ZERO are strongly reverberant (which some might like - it can reduce in-head feel) and the bulky shells are pretty hard to nicely lodge in ears - much less comfortable than OEM RE-300 ones for sure. Very hard to mod as well. Isolation is lower. Microphonics are...- AstralStorm

HIFIMAN RE300a/ RE300i InLine and RE300h (hifi) Earphone launched! *Impressions added*
Here's some last impressions: 2 months ago, the cable isolation completely hardened and predictably, soon afterwards it cracked. It completely broke near one of the earpieces a week ago. Hifiman, seriously. All your in-ears do this! Including ancient RE0, RE-272 and RE-600. About the only other...- AstralStorm
