Nope. There's nothing to justify it, except a few hrs battery life. Besides the way in which android DAPs go unsupported so quickly makes them a complete waste of money.

I've always enjoyed the concept of DAPs and have spent a fortune on them through the years. But for me I think the law of diminishing returns has really kicked in. The A105 is a nice device but in fairness my phone is more relevant. Regular updates, good battery life and decent enough sound via...

I agree entirely. Android based DAPs are limited out of the box. I honestly believe that the increased quality of Bluetooth coupled with the simplicity of streaming has reduced the need for DAPs almost entirely. There is nothing the A105 can do that my mobile phone can't do (almost) just as well.

It is difficult to recommend it. Having purchased Sony DAPs for years the A105 has been my last. I'll keep it for sure but it'll become outdated eventually when security updates cease. Besides, honestly speaking, my Samsung phone doesn't sound much different to my ageing ears.

I don't think you can do that. As far as I know the default app will not play third party app files downloaded for offline use.

True. And the 105 is heavily capped. I wonder if devices sold in the UK will be exempt from this ridiculous cap now?

I use the WF and WHXM3's. I've gone wireless when out and about.

Thanks for the detailed feedback. I've been looking for an MX3 but they're difficult to find here in Ireland. I'm more interested in a device I can take out and about on walks etc. I have an original Fiio X3 which overshadows the A105 in so many ways except for connectivity, despite its age. I...

I wonder if the MX3 would be a worthwhile long term investment. I have the EU capped A105 which can't be circumvented. This combined with the weak battery has left me dissapointed from the outset. The A105 is just a weak device all around.

I also have the A105. I'm in Ireland looking for a new alternative that will last me for years to come. I've locked myself into Sony gear for decades apart from my Fiio X3 original, which I still have and use occasionally. I don't have any background experience of this manufacturer but this...

Good for you. Glad you're happy with the purchase. The A105 is a nice DAP let down mostly by the battery life. I'm presuming you have the non EU capped version. This would explain the decent volume level. In Europe our overlords believe they can chose listening levels on our behalf which makes...

I've had weird dreams but Sony never featured in them 😅

I've reached the point whereby the A105 is my very last DAP. With the massive improvement in Bluetooth earphones I see little point in investing in a DAP to use as a mere transport. A mobile phone with good codec implementation and support is all I need into the future.

It's such a shame Sony took a huge step back in terms of battery life with the 105. I totally get the compromise between battery life and streaming access. The fact the the senseless EU cap can't be circumvented is another issue. Having been a fan of Sony devices since a very young age I find...
