For everyone just getting into Oceansize, try listening to their stuff more than just once.  They are one of those bands that take a while to "get".  Their music can seem complicated, but when it hits you you'll never look back.

necro-bump for an AWESOME band.   Their latest release:  Self Preserved While the Bodies Float Up.  

Not exactly unknown, but definitely not known enough: OCEANSIZE.  I cannot get enough of this band.  Every album they made is stellar.   http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=1595    

I love my 840s.  A lot.  They need some time to break in, but when they do they are clear as a bell, without being harsh at all.  Bass is honest (read: not bloated), with well defined tone with plenty of weight.  Midrange is awesome.  Highs are clear.  I have not heard some of the others...

I want to comment so bad but with what I want to say it would be spoiler city.  To sum it up:  I hated it.

I use a Meier Audio 3Move.  Awesome with my Ipod Classic 160.

Regarding the bass on the 840: I have played Rickenbacher, Fender Precision, and Fender Jazz basses and I can confidently say that the 840s reproduce the real sounds of those instruments very well. All the tone and timbre of those basses really come through faithfully. It may not be subwoofer...

Properly amped, 840s do not lack bass. The bass is also very good pitch wise. Some of the best rendered Rickenbacker or Fender Jazz bass I've ever heard was in my 840s.

Tyll, just a thought: Have you contacted John Atkinson at Stereophile magazine for measurement advice? Stereophile has been supportive of the headphone hobby over the years and I bet John would be willing to help in some way! He's been measuring exotic stuff forever!

Lord Melch, I might have misunderstood you a bit. You can certainly use a USB stick to COPY the music to your PC itunes would run on, as long as they stay there. Marcus C, foobar2000 might be a bit overwhelming for a newbie It was for me as a seasoned veteran!

Itunes needs the music to be somewhere permanent. If you put it on a USB stick, I think itunes will remember that location. Once the USB stick is removed, next time you try to play the music, itunes will show an error. Do you have a permanent "music library" location?
