Hello,
Currently I am in the market for a new pair of headphones, a pair in which I can carry around with me outside of my house. Currently I have a pair of Sennheiser HD600s, and I must say I absolutely love them! However, they are 300Ω headphones and therefor need some form of amplification to be powered properly, add in the fact that they come with a 3m (~10ft) cable, and you have your self an amazing pair of headphones that are a pain to use anywhere other than near a stereo amp. Not to mention the 3m cable is easily to much cable for portable use and is prone to damage (I had to replace two cables within a year and a half from damage ocurring when I head to school.) Therefor I am desperate for a more durable and portable headphone.
I have a budget of anywhere from $150-300 (I am willing to increase if it is worth it). I realize that with this budget and with the features I am looking for that I can't expect to get anything with nearly the same sound quality as my Sennheisers. I also want something with some style, don't get me wrong my HD600s are like a Goddess, but I want something that will blend in with the urban envirament while still catching some attention. I have narrowed my list, which is based off of my limited knowledge of brands, and the following headphones are what I'm looking at. My issue is that I don't want to sacrifice too much sound quality simply for a fashion statement, and sadly it's hard to get an idea of what a headphone sounds like with out first hearing them yourself.
Before I list the headphones, I would like to list some of the things I've taken into account in this list.
::Sound Quality::
My Sennheisers are amazing and although I have never given them a full test, it is hard to miss their near-perfect sound. I am not looking for this however, I want great sound, but I also want something that would support the lows a little more. Also, with the HD600, as they are open-air, they leak sound and aren't the best in areas in which there is a) a lot of ambient noise and b) in a quiet area in which people do not want to be disturbed.
:ortability::
As far as this goes, I'm mostly concerned with cable length. These headphones will be on my ears or around my neck most of the time when I'm traveling.
Going along with sound quality hear, I need them to be powered off of the portable device's signal alone (with the addition of a battery powered built-in amp if available).
::Fashion::
I do agree that design follows function, however since these are going to be worn out in public, I would like to be able to dawn them as an accesory that won't clash with my current fashion. This of course is less important than sound quality, but still desired.
Here are the headphones I am currently looking at. I am looking for any opinion, good or bad, you may have. Feel free to suggest any headphones that are not listed.
