Got an X5 Gen 3 here that I will be posting my thoughts shortly with in a few weeks. So far I'm very impressed with the value that this DAP has to offer. I'm trying to hook it up via USB to my Hugo 2 to use it as a digital transport and I can play regular music just fine, but it seems to stall with DSD files. Anyone have any recommendations or experiences here when pairing this with a Mojo, Hugo or Hugo 2?

From what i have been reading on this thread USB out is still a no go! I personally don't use it as a Transport (yet) and therefore can't give you first hand information.

The USB works fine with standard 44kHz music...guess I'll have to try SPDIF? Thanks!

Though i havent tried USB out on the current FW, i do remember it being able to play standard music files however with higher resolution i believe there is a problem with USB. As for coax i think it does 24/ 192 and DSD over DoP / PCM. I believe there is noise introduced when the files have bitrate of more than 5000+. Please forgive me if i am mistaken somewhere. I am also interested about digital out and i heard they are making improvements with the new FW.

Thanks! I'll have to try and source a short SPDIF cable then.

Hugo 2, but the Mojo as well would be the same in this regard.

You need to make sure it's a 4 pole TRRS plug on the FiiO end as it shares the port with the line-out. The Signal is on the Sleeve and the ground is on Ring2. I have both of these and they work fine from the FiiO DAPs.

The X5 III currently has issues with its digital out with high bit rate files. For coaxial it's around 5000-5500kbps and then there's a lot of noise and distortion in the signal. As was mentioned, USB out is not finished either and you may or may not get it to work with all files. Currently it samples everything to 48kHz with USB out.

One of the classics.
Dear Prudence
Starts only on right channel for so long you check your headphone jack (it ain't that) ..then it comes in with a nice bass on left. Love the mixing of some of these classic late 60's - late 70's stuff.
The guitar work in Prudence is nothing short of awesome, drop D tuning, finger style Travis picked, simple but elegant sounding.

I can see the Penon one has L-shape connectors. If you touch or move the cable, is there any interruptions? I have some problems with a cable with similar connectors.
