I've also worn an LCD-X and LCD-3 for long periods of time...I seem to remember a minor difference, with the way they design these headbands I suppose any increase is a good thing. Also...it looks rather nice...

Owners of the 4 that had or tried the other models, aside from weight and comfort does the carbon fiber headband create a stronger clamp to your head? I feel like I don't get a strong seal with the normal LCD-3 headband and was thinking about trying the cf
On my big head the LCD-4 clamped a lot harder than the LCD-3. With the 3 I could easily bend the headband a little but the carbon fiber one wouldn't budge.
I ended up cutting half of it and the comfort greatly increased as now they only have a slight pressure just enough to seal properly.

Hi all, i'm in the market for an amp that pairs well with the LCD-4. I'm thinking about the V281 or the Wells Milo. Any opinions on these vs each other. Any particular strengths or weaknesses? Or major differences in sound signature? Thanks for the help!

Milo.

As I've said elsewhere on Head-Fi: LCD-4 + Milo = one of the best partnerships of audio products I've ever heard, and I've been around the block a few times. The Violectric is very nice for sure, neutral and uncoloured, but the Milo to me is extraordinary; the least solid-state sounding solid-state HP amp I've heard. Also the only amp I've tried the LCD-4 with that made me totally convinced that I was hearing them at their absolute best.

That's the direction I was leaning. What are you using as a dac?

Moon 430HA is great amp, it pairs very well with my 200 ohm LCD-4. I'm currently selling mine, so if you are interested, PM me please.

I would say Milo but if you can spare the change I would go even bigger to the Enigma.

It depends, what sound signature do you like. If you are looking for non coloured, neutral sound, with perfect volume control, then Moon is the way to go. If you like warmer presentation, then I would go for one of Wells Audio amps.

To me, at least when I listened to the Moon at the dealer it sounded warmer than the Wells.... but again that's my personal perception.

In terms of soundstage, what would you say about the background color of LCD-4? Just to put it in context, my LCD-XC and X very often do not reflect a (pitch) black background, they have some colors moving on alongside the creamy bass. I do not criticize it as I think it is a characteristic feature of the Audeze house. Still, I would like to hear your thoughts regarding LCD-4.
