Astell & Kern KANN - DAP with Massive Storage & Battery

That would be really great.

There is also maybe wrong translation about microSD card when inserted. I get notification microSD card safely removed.
The microSD card message in the notification bar is slated to be corrected in the next firmware update for all of our players. It was just corrected in the latest firmware update for the SP1000. It should say "Safely remove SD Card". By pressing this, it unmounts the SD card so it can be safely removed without corrupting data on the card.

I have also problems with USB DAC driver. Provided driver is unsigned and I use Windows 10 Creators Update. I can disable driver signature enforcement and install driver but after next reboot this driver won't load again.

Lithrai,

Thank you for the feedback. I will pass this on to our software development team and see if there is a fix or an updated device driver that will be available soon.

@JasonNYC

I don't consider this a bug or anything that needs to be fixed, but maybe more of a feature request. I have connected my KAHN and my AK380 to my car radio via Bluetooth and can feed it and control them from the radio, but neither passes the track information to be displayed on the radio. With better audio receiver being included in cars now, I think that would be a nice feature.

Thank you for the feedback. This is one of our most requested features next to a way to control the player with steering wheel controls sine many AK owners use their players in their cars.

May I suggest listening thru the meze 99's with a good balanced cable.....a huge step up!

I do have a balanced cable. I built myself one way back when I got the 99C.

You see me using the stock cable in the review because I was using the Meze as my reference headphone for doing the DAP comparisons. I use a line switcher, and that is not balanced.

Great looking cable there. Wish I was adept at soldering and assorted skills. These custom made cables cost the bomb!

Thanks.

The conductor isn't too special, just a high purity OCC copper. But I made sure it was a nice thick 22AWG gauge, so the 99C gets all the juice she'll ever need. :D

It turned out so well, I built almost an identical one for my NightOwls.

Yes, that would be a bonus, as well as a way to 'normalise' the sound output. My sony A30 player does all that and i find it more practical in the car. The sudden shifts in volume from one album to another can be unnerving while driving. I feel the AK players have a ways to go to catch up with the sonys as far as UI is concerned.
BTW does anyone know if the KANN supports aptx HD? Just found a bluetooth aptx HD transceiver on amazon. Think I'll get one to see if it makes any difference. Heres the link in case anyone's interested.

Has anyone been able to compare the KANN with the Questyle QP1R?

I'm a big fan of the QP1R's sound, but the vast storage capacity of the KANN (plus the addition of streaming & balanced out) has caught my attention. Having just read Mr Pinky Powers' superb review (& discounting the QP2R on grounds of the massively increased price & reduced storage) I have a sense the KANN is calling as my next DAP.

I have had the Kann for several months now and love it. I use it with Oppo PM-3 headphones. I recently read that the PM-3s are wired for balanced cable as is the Kann and started looking for a balanced cable. I see them offered by Moon Audio, Dysons, Surf among others. Are there diifferences in quality of the cables. Any recommendations on best vendor. Dyson appears to be the cheapest, Moon the most expensive.

For mac users, which software do you guys use to upload music and organize photos? For some reason the Android File Transfer seems to be really cumbersome and crashes on my MBP.
