So I've been using the u8 for a while now was wondering if a DAC/amp would better the headphones? I've been running the u8 straight out of my iphone. Thanks in advance!

I think it will, but not by a huge margin.
I would reccomend a dacamp that works with an iphone like the dragonfly, opp ha2, mojo, (in order of cost).
Imo, the cheapest upgrade would be the ue buffer jack or equivalent attachments(ifi iematch)
It's still a very good price considering it's the ADEL model which is pretty much extinct now and another ADEL massdrop is probably not to going to happen.
interesting that they're selling ADEL compatible modules.
Much more flexibility than being limited to APEX modules alone.
I would heartily recommend the U4SE if you want a well balanced IEM.
I just wish they made an A version of the U4SE, I'd be all over that.
Fair use snippet:
"VANCOUVER, WA, July 20, 2017 – 64 Audio (formerly 1964 Ears) is pleased to announce that on July 19, 2017, the U.S. Patent Trial & Appeal Board (PTAB) ruled in favor of 64 Audio, finding all claims of U.S. Patent No. 8,897,463, held by Jerry Harvey Audio Holdings (JH Audio), unpatentable."
Though I have no legal expertise, after reading the patent it seems to me the US Patent Office clearly got it right with this ruling. I imagine most all other CIEM manufacturers are relieved by this news as well.
The U12 seems more balanced with better treble and stage. I thought they sounded pretty bad at first and then i pushed them in for good seal and baaaaaam!
Nothing like a good fit to be legit.
They are light, not too big at all, seem to get the minutia in tracks and have a nice air/stage.
Gonna give my thoughts in the X7ii review and when they get their own vid review.
