Wiring balanced stepped attenuator
Simple question but I can't seem to find an answer. To wire up the attenuator pictured below as long as the two tabs for each deck are wired together does it matter which way the two are wired up since it's just placing a resistor in the signal? Also I'm assuming the tabs I've circled below with...- stew1234

Connecting shielding for internal wiring?
I've looked around at various builds but I wanted to double check that you do not in fact need to connect the shielding when using shielded cable for hook up wire. I'm going to be connecting single ended outputs to an output stage. Some pictures look like the shielding is connected while...- stew1234

Was I sent fake op amps?
I purchased some OPA627AP op-amps from a seller in China on ebay and received these. They don't have the trademark sign next to the BB logo or the notch in the side every OPA627 I could find online does. Could these be fake? They weren't particularly cheap so I have no reason to think they're...- stew1234

Sourcing Wallwart cases
I know AMB used a Jameco wallwart case for the ck2III (The Cavalli-Kan Kumisa III Stereo Headphone Amplifier) but was wondering if people just buy a regular wallwart and then open it up to put in their own transformer or if it's possible to buy an empty wallwart case. I've looked around and...- stew1234

Bargain Balanced Monitors?

Dumb Question about Knobs
I am mounting an Alps RK 27 pot on the front panel of my headphone amp and the shaft is much longer than the stepped potentiometer I'm also using. Is it worth using nice wire for the ground channel?
I'm wondering if it will make any difference sonically if I use some nice copper wire I have for L/R channels and some lesser wire for ground on a single ended headphone output?
