Sony IER-M9 impressions thread
Yes, a nice review. I only tried the M7 quickly before buying the M9 - at $680 rather than $1000 for the M9 the bang for buck equation is a little different.- inego

Sony IER-M9 impressions thread
I'm mostly using mine with iPhone, and I really don't want to muck up the portability by amping - but may have to. I'm finding I need at least 80% volume for them to work well.- inego

Sony IER-M9 impressions thread
After a couple of days now, I'm still not convinced about that "weight", which still seems to occasionally overwhelm the mix (but it may also be Covid vaccaination side effects on my hearing). I am loving the broad soundstage otherwise, and picking the layering of instruments which hasn't been...- inego

Sony IER-M9 impressions thread
Apart from finding comply a real fail with westones I haven’t found a particular tip issue once I got a good fit. I’d been using triflanges on my AF180 for fit, but then found a good fit with olives and started loving them. the a2a 899 is only available online even though I was in store, so...- inego

Sony IER-M9 impressions thread
I tested a few IEMs (M7, plus a couple of Fiio) at addicted to audio today and ended up buying the M9 for AUD $899. but I was pretty close to not buying them, because they were super bas heavy with a wide bore tip. It totally masked vocals and killed any crunch on guitars. But going back to...- inego

Best IEM for me around $800
I upgraded to Audiofly AF1120 from AF180 last year. I quite like the AF laid back/neutral sound signature, and the insrument separation is fantastic. I've had a couple of different Westones previously I've avoided upgradeitis, but the AF1120 broke casing last week, pulling an internal wire out...- inego

IEM - Audiofly AF1120 replacement
The casing on one of my Audiofly AF1120 mk2 separated the other day. I would have glued back together but they are in warranty and one of the wires came out of its solder. Problem being that Audiofly appears to have gone out of business last week, so warranty claim unlikely at this stage. A...- inego

Does anyone know what happened to AudioFly?
I wish I did know. I’m a long term customer, most recently with AF1120 around 10 months ago. The casing on the RHD earpiece came apart the other day, so it looks like almost aud$700 down the drain.- inego

Upgrade from Audiofly AF180
Just bumping this again - the case of my AF180 broke along the join this morning :( I'm going to try to superglue back together, but we'll see. Maybe I should have got a second pair when Amazon had them reduced to AUD$180 on clearance.....- inego

Upgrade from Audiofly AF180
I've had the AF180Mk1 for a couple of years now, and have been pretty happy with them once I found decent isolation from tri-flanges. They replaced Westone W4, which in turn replaced UM3. But I've been saving during "lockdown" and now have upgradeitis. But the downer - I'm too old to muck...- inego

High end headphones and IEMs
I've had HD580s for a few years now, but have been using my Westone W4 for most of my listening recently. Went back to the Senns the other week and found they had a more rounded, "airier" sound, but I missed the instrument separation and "accuracy" of the IEM. That's just my...- inego

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
A second on this one. I had look the other day and couldn't pinpoint exactly what you were referring to. My 4s arrived yesterday, but I'm holding off for my Arrow before testing. I'll start with the shures I've been using and then test some others.- inego

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
Great - I was thinking of moving from mediums to large on the Shures anyway, as the fit seems to loosen too quickly. I might play with other tips a little too if the sound isn't to my liking after the UM3X- inego

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
Just picked up a set of 4s (not 4Rs) for just under $300 to replace my slightly injured UM3X. Looking forward to exploring :) Interesting about the tips - I pretty quickly switched the supplied comply (too muddy) for shure on the UM3X and was assuming doing the same on the 4 would yield...- inego

Sub $400 - amp suggestions for IEM
Cheers again. Unfortunately usurous shipping costs from Australia would translate that into close to $100, a good chunk of a brand new set of cans. Pity no repairs here in Oz afaik- inego

Sub $400 - amp suggestions for IEM
Thanks for your suggestions guys. I actually got impatient the other day and pulled the trigger on a 3G refurb, only to discover with a little further investigation that the issue is a headphone cable one - unfortunately not the replaceable model. So, a new amp finally. But now a likely...- inego

Sub $400 - amp suggestions for IEM
I've been umming and aahing over a new amp for a while now, and asked some questions before. My ibasso D2+ has been chugging along OK, so I've been postponing a decision. But last week the left channel started going after 30mins or so use. I've checked cables etc, and it's def the amp. I...- inego

Leckerton Audio Slimline UHA-4
Psycho-aural perception is an interesting thing isn't it? I was listening further last night and this morning, and I'm less unimpressed, although the upper overtones still seem to be missing from bass guitars. I had a bit of a play with the x-feed which, although I found it distracting...- inego

Leckerton Audio Slimline UHA-4
ipod classic->LOD->amp->Westone UM3X No real idea what opamp ther UHA-4 is running - I introduced the friend to head-fi, but we haven't spoken in detail about that element. I had thought the ibasso fairly neutral, but maybe it does reinforce the bass. The Leckerton is quieter (my ibasso...- inego

Leckerton Audio Slimline UHA-4
I've swapped my iBasso D2+ with a friend for the last few days and, although the UHA-4 is growing on me, I'm still preferring the iBasso sound signature. I'm hearing a rolled off bottom end, recessed middle (whoa, where did those vocals go) and top end harshness when I use volume to compensate...- inego
