Reliable online stores to buy ALPS potentiometers?

I've had good experiences with ELFA -- Elektronikdistributör i norra Europa They have branches in a lot of EU countries and tend to have good stocks.

    Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

Has anyone tried driving the DT 150s with portable amps? I'm thinking of getting a pair (I'm trying to decide between them and the HD25s), but the 250Ohms worries me a bit. My amp is a Meier Porta Corda Mk III. I don't need to drive them very loud or anything, I only want them for work (where...

    Kits for a portable amp.

Here is the Farnell parts list I used. Please note that it is slightly different from what Meier's list said: 1) I used 0805 sized resistors instead of the 1206. The 0805s will fit fine, are cheaper and easier to get (and can also be used in more future projects as they come in packs of 50...

    Portable DAC/Amp

I'd highly recommend the Jan Meier amp...It can be powered in 3 ways: 9v battery USB DC input. I've built an amp from Jan's kit and it really surpassed my expectations of it - sounds wonderful.

    Kits for a portable amp.

Just to follow up on the 2x100KOhm ALPs RK09 from elfa.se - it arrived today and fits the PCB perfectly. (It is the version without the switch). The knob that came with the kit doesn't fit the pot (the pot has a 9mm shaft), but the knob can be drilled to fit I guess. I assume that it was this...

    Kits for a portable amp.

I was working on my parts list for this and I think I have found suitable parts for most of it now...but I don't know enough about the inductors required. I see that Meier uses some type of axial inductors, but the website doesn't suggest what resonant frequency or resistance they should have...

    Jambo DAC - Build Thread

The HID is a great feature to have. I used a CD player enclosure so I can connect it up to the CD player's buttons on the front panel for skipping tracks and that. I'm very happy with the DAC - sound quality out of it is excellent. It had a bit of burn in time, I've played it for about 10...

    Jambo DAC - Build Thread

Hey, I finally decided to just power up the DAC and see if it worked. It was my first DIY project so I was trying to be extra safe by checking everything again and again before powering up!!! Turns out it worked first time! I've only tested it on USB, but the USB and switching works fine...

    Kits for a portable amp.

Great offer Jan. My kit arrived a couple of days ago. Many thanks! Has anyone found a cheap source for the dual 100K ALPs RK09 log potentiometer? The best I've found so far want 15 euros each...Farnell and Radionics don't have them.

Another question - Do you have a part number (radionics/farnell) for sockets for the header pins on the board? I figured it's best to ask before I tryed to guess what might fit I'm looking to have the power leads connected via a socket and a socket for programming the micro as well...

Great thanks. I'll put them down today and then I'm finished the DAC. I'll post some pics of it soon I'm just waiting for a parcel to arrive with some power supply parts now - should be able to post about some listening impressions in the near future as well Should I expect it to have...

    Jambo DAC - Build Thread

Hey, Almost finished building the DAC. I have one quick question however - are the crystals polarised? There is a dot beside one of the pads on the PCB for them, but the crystals themselves don't seem to have a + marked? Thanks

    Jambo DAC - Build Thread

DAC-construction is coming along well. I did the IC's last night and they went down fine - I was expecting them to be more troublesome, only took about 30-40mins to have them all done. Anyway, today I went to do the resistors, and I've got a couple of questions: There was no 720Rs in the...

My kit arrived earlier today! I'm going away for the weekend so I won't have a chance to start building until Monday. Had a quick look at it anyway, and it all looks good!

    DAC-building resources

Depending on your soldering ability you may want to consider the "Jambo DAC". There is a thread about it here: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f6/jambo-dac-288159/. It would set you back about £90, and would be far superior to anything else in its price range (with similar inputs and outputs)...

    Jambo DAC

The pics look great Can't wait to get my hands on this now. I really like the way it has a good few inputs, all lined up on a single side - will fit neatly into the enclosure I have for it. Just out of curiosity, I see a "SPDIF Config" section on the board. What can it be used for?

    Jambo DAC

Thanks everyone for the replies. I've looked into it a bit more myself, and the Twisted Pear route seems to be the best alright. Think I might add a few extra kit's of theirs into my order as well

    Jambo DAC

The SuperReg kits don't seem to be available from VSE at the moment - the "buy" link just gives an error. The Twisted Pear route sounds like a good one - everyone has only good things to say about them. The only disadvantage is that the two twisted pear kits needed (LCDPS, LCBPS) and the cost...

    Jambo DAC

I had posted the guts of this in a PM to Jambo, but I guess it's relevant to everyone. What do people plan to do about a power supply for their Jambo DACs? I recall someone on this thread mentioned using a PC PSU, but they are normally not recommended for hifi stuff I think. I'm no expert...

    Jambo DAC

Jambo - I have a couple of questions about your DAC: 1) Is there any concern about going from USB->SPDIF->I2S? I guess there shouldn't be any disadvantage to this but you know more about this stuff than I. 2) Would it be possible for the boards to have a layout where using more of the...
