The R2R 1 uses the DA-8 modules and the R2R 7 uses DA-7 modules. I don't know what the difference is between the two but I don't think the R2R1 destroys the R2R7s value. The old Reference 5 certainly did not destroy the Reference 7s value when they were around and they used the same chips.

Well I used to have the Master 7 and the Yggy beat it, that was acss vs xlr. My Master 7 did not have the much lauded dsp upgrade though. The Yggy actually sounds better (with Audio GD stuff) using RCA outs as the XLRs are a bit too hot for Audio GD preamps IMHO.

That just made me want to keep my Yggdrasil. I'm entertaining getting a R2R 7 because I own a Master 1, Master 9, and Master 3. Although the Yggy + Audio GD make a heavenly combo.

Yep.  The other one is some MSB variety that because I knew I would never purchase (due to the awful price/performance ratio) I didn't bother remembering the details.  I am pretty sure it was one of the older ones though, maybe a Diamond IV.
