HEM comes with separate signal ground, so it's natural that I tried a balance connection to use with Sony ZX2.  I am very surprised at the improvement, clarity improved, and frequency extremes are that much better.  

 It needs to be burnt-in for 48 hours to 'open up', be patience.

I can't tolerate the bloated bass with SE846.  IE800 is a good earphone for shallow and casual listening where I need to put in and remove the earphones when I got interruption, but IE800 is dynamically restrictive.

Shure 846 had the bass cranked up really high, with reference to the mid-range, i.e. 1kHz.    You can look at the the Frequency Response of 846 from any reputable sources:     you can see that the 100Hz point is about 9dB above the 1kHz point.

I heard both, had the Shure for 3 weeks before it went back to Amazon. If you are listening to electonic and trance, Shure is for you. It really has a "subwoofer" built in, but turned up really high, as in +9dB from neutral, which rendered acoustics, jazz and classical unpalatable.

I saw the bit about free Hotel shuttle.   But we are not 'hotel guest'???  I am going to assume that Westin shuttle will soon get overwhelmed and want some proof of hotel reservation, if they are delivering bus loads of headfiers.

If I am flying into John Wayne airport, is there a shuttle or some means to get to Westin?  It would seem silly to rent a car but would take much too long to walk.

Honestly, I ordered a Shure 846, had it and it's going back.   I wouldn't go into the detail, but if you're interested, please check out the facts, i.e. measurements of SE846.   Even the Shure ad is telling the truth, and that's what I heard.   Shure ad.

If you are listening with the USB Charger charging the phone, that could explain the noise.

The Single-ended class-A design is a constant current source regardless of the impedance and HD-800 has a strange impedance peak that caused many amp to stress (or distress), however, with a constant current, I believe thats how the HD-800 is tamed.
