You're right on track about the Mullard CV491. I am currently using 1955-1957 Mullard CV491 in my LAMM LL2 Deluxe. They do perform extremely well with Bass, the clarity on the lows are outstanding and the mids are smooth and very warm tone but the soundstage is not quite as wide as with other...- stax#1

Graphic Equalizers
I have experimented with cranesong ibis eq, which is an outstanding eg and had great results. But, you must understand that eq's are all about filtering. They do a really good job eliminating any distortion but also some detail at certain frequencies. The only thing I will say is for you to try...- stax#1

Hello, Please view my system in my profile. Benchmark DAC1 now available with USB
The Benchmark USB DAC is a very disappointed piece of audio gear. I am not going to explain about all the negative things about this DAC. You are better off spending a little more money on a Hagerman USB DAC. I have the Hagerman Chime DAC, but Jim Hagerman is no longer producing this wonderful...- stax#1

Modified Stax SRM-007tII Amp
Hello, I have modified my Stax SRM-007tII amp by replacing all the Vishay caps with Vcaps TFTF. I am still breaking in the caps and have experience a significant improvement with detail/midrange/bass. I also did some tube rolling, using the RCA clear tops for a good while before I got a hold...- stax#1

Are the Stax amps really that bad?
The stax amps are lacking on power. If you add a good preamp, you will experience music like no other headphones can reproduce. It all depends on the audio gear you have associated with the stax setup. My audio gear for my stax srm-007tII/4070 w/rca clear tops is as followed: accuphase ps-500...- stax#1
