I know the HD650 Chinese knockoff pads are really bad and noticeably thinner. I'd be curious to probably invest in a pair or two of the knockoffs for the HD700, but I'd be really weary due to how much pads can effect headphones like the HD700 or HD650.

They're the one headphones I'm not so critical on sound on, thought he HyperX seem to be tilted a bit more towards the bassy side of things.  I'll check out the 2050 pads and the HM5 velour.   Thanks for the input, guys.

Yeah, I don't think you'd be one bit of disappointed with a Modi/Magni or Modi/Vali combo along with the HD650.  I plan on letting the Asgard 2 and HD650 combo spoil me for quite a bit longer :).

  I found out the same thing.  I was pleasantly surprised how well it handled anything electronic.  It's why I sold my Beyers in the end.

I'd have to take a look in my bag, but I thought they did. I might be thinking of my old SF3s. However, UE did make some that are very similar to how your single flange ones are.

Did you not like the bi-flanges that come with the TF10?

  Just to add to what's already been said; the HD650 extends deeper and has more impact than even the HD600.  I've heard the HD598, but not the 558.  The 598 has nothing on the bass of the HD650.

Think of it as just as good of a deal as your HD650s ;).  I think the icing on the cake is it will be pre-assembled.  It's literally put itself together for you!

  Missed this before, but the Vali is a good option if you can get your hands on it.  I'm fond of the Asgard 2 as well :p.   It's pretty much fate at this point....do itttt.

    I'm also very curious to how the Asgard 2 stacks up to the Soloist.  I'm still extremely happy with mine even after hearing all of the nice DACs and amps at the recent meet.

Not sure what kinda music you guys listen to, but I've got a special place in my heart for a band called Bad Veins (indie rock).   Got my hands on a FLAC version of their album 'The Mess We've Made', and it's sounding wonderful on my setup.
