    Sony has new headphones, MDR-1R

Just picked up a sealed pair of these for £82 on EBay. Couldn't resist at that price. This site should be banned, frankly.  Thank goodness I didn't pick them up for £150ish at HMV.

A quick heads up: I'm selling my J3 on the forums if anyone in the Uk is interested.   Cheers

[REVIEW] Logitech UE9000 - Ultimate Ears HEADPHONES Released! The UE4000, UE6000 and the UE9000 - Impressions Thread

Quote: Yes, I experienced this on the UE9000 as well as the Sony MDR 1r BT. The start of song on Spotify would always stutter, as if something was trying to catch up. The Zik Parrots were better in this regard, weirdly. I think the issues is iOS related.

Assistance in Choosing. Sony MDR-7520 or Z1000 ?

I was told this by a dealer here in the Uk when I asked about the difference between them and the Z1000. The chap said both models were discontinued. However, it wasn't obvious whether he meant Sony were stopping making them, or simply because of "new EU regulation" meaning they cannot be...

Assistance in Choosing. Sony MDR-7520 or Z1000 ?

Nooooo! The Z1000s were available on Play.com here in the UK for £128 6 days ago. I missed them, and they've gone now as the stock was limited. Probably because the Z1000s (and now 7520) have been discontinued.

    Sony MDR-1RBT Impressions?

Quote: Yes, it played ok, but with a delay. Try setting them to default devices in Audio device manager.

    Sony MDR-1RBT Impressions?

Quote: Windows 7 (Ultimate edition, I think).

    Sony MDR-Z1000 discontinued / replaced?

Not according to Jude. I did a trawl on here and there is a thread where he states they do sound different. http://www.head-fi.org/t/644542/sony-mdr-z1000-and-sony-mdr-7520-essentially-identical I'm considering them as I like the 1R but am hoping these have more insulation. I'm trying to find...

Assistance in Choosing. Sony MDR-7520 or Z1000 ?

Anymore thoughts on the z1000/7520 v the 1r guys? Are the first phones definitely identical in sound? Nope! Trying to find out which if either would be closest to the 1R. Are they good enough at isolating to travel on the tube with? Thanks.

[REVIEW] Logitech UE9000 - Ultimate Ears HEADPHONES Released! The UE4000, UE6000 and the UE9000 - Impressions Thread

The UE9000 is exhibiting a delay of about 1/5th- 1/4 of a second when playing videos through my iPhone 5. Music is fine (or at least there is no picture to watch, so no syncing issue). Anyone come across this? I'm seeing similar with my Windows 7 PC (The Sony MDR was the same for both devices...

    Sony MDR-1RBT Impressions?

Quote: Have you held power down for 7 seconds to put it into pairing mode? My PC couldn't see them until I did this. They pair ok, but initially there was a large lip-sync issue of around 1/4 of a second. I reinstalled the drivers, and changed BT properties for them to Audio sink only, and...

[REVIEW] Logitech UE9000 - Ultimate Ears HEADPHONES Released! The UE4000, UE6000 and the UE9000 - Impressions Thread

Edited to include more info:   I just picked up a pair: Some hissing and I'm getting quite a lot of skipping (using Spotify on iPhone 5, iOS 6). Far more than when I used the Zik Parrot if memory serves. However, the Sony mdr 1rbt phones exhibit the SAME skipping. I'm wondering if it is an...

    Sony has new headphones, MDR-1R

Thanks Jude. So how do the 7520 and z1000 compare to the 1r? A completely different kettle of fish? I read a review of the 7520s that said they make great portable phones. Additionally them seem to have good isolation which may make up for no Noise cancelling. Essentially I'm looking at the 1r...

    Sony has new headphones, MDR-1R

Sorry to butt in, but which of these would sound most like the 1r? (If at all) I tend to prefer a mid-range emphasised sound, and like the mdr NC version in passive mode. Is either of these mentioned similar but on a higher level?

    Sony has new headphones, MDR-1R

Has anyone spent a decent amount of time with both the standard and BT version? I quite fancy a BT headset and am considering the Sony and the UE6000. I had the NC Sony and liked it in passive mode but not NC alas. Any opinions on the Sonys in corded and wireless modes vs the 1r would be...

[REVIEW] Logitech UE9000 - Ultimate Ears HEADPHONES Released! The UE4000, UE6000 and the UE9000 - Impressions Thread

I hate this site. In the last month I have bought, begged, borrowed or stolen :-   PSB M4U2 (returning due to a slight channel imbalance) Sony MDR 1RNC AKG 550 Zik Parrot Sennheiser Amperior (which I'm selling here in London BTW)   Also on my to-try list are the Momentums and...

[REVIEW] Logitech UE9000 - Ultimate Ears HEADPHONES Released! The UE4000, UE6000 and the UE9000 - Impressions Thread

Quote:   I haven't heard the UE6000/9000s but may get a set of 9000s tomorrow and will see what gives. I compared the Sony against PSB M4U2s and really couldn't decide which I preferred more. There was a bit of a bump in the Sonys in lower mid (I think) and slightly flabby bass, but I...

    Sennheiser Amperior Impressions Thread

I was curious so picked up a pair of these yesterday. Wow, they are detailed and fast phones. Quite enjoyable but my natural preference is for warm sound, ala Sony Mdr. Perhaps the momentums would be more my speed? I was also impressed by the amount of isolation they provided. I'm selling mine...

    Sony has new headphones, MDR-1R

Finally got to play with the NC version.   Build quality: Great. Seems even better than 1r (although the 1r was a beat up demo model) Comfort: Excellent Look: Gorgeous, dahling.   I haven't heard the non NC version in a decent environment (I had about 10 mins in a shop with throbbing...

    PSB M4U 2

Quote: I've owned two pairs and didn't notice any noises in the first, however I only had them a few days. On the second pair I can sometimes hear noises in the right ear when in NC that sound like some sort of discharge. However, it is VERY quiet and can only be heard in a very quiet room...

    PSB M4U 2

Quote: Hi again. It sounded like something mechanical rather than electronic but was only happening in NC mode. Weirdly the issue has gone now. At least I haven't noticed it in the last few days so perhaps I jumped the gun a bit. Thanks for your help.
  23. JimBob1971

    PSB M4U 2

Quote: Classic! It doesn't happen in unconnected, passive mode - At least I can't hear it, but I'll seek out ear hairs just in case  Hopefully that is the case as I do like these headphones.

    PSB M4U 2

Quote: Were you referring to my problem? If so thanks for the advice. I've tried walking with NC without any cable or source connected and have the same. I have the say the issue is currently much less obvious than the first set, and may well be caused by the leather pads or plastic making...

    PSB M4U 2

My 2nd set have developed the 'popping' in NC mode (whilst walking) that my first set did. This time in the left ear. Dagnabit. I hope this is completely coincidental as I like these phones. No one else seems to be complaining of this, so either 1) It is my ears causing it! 2) No-one else uses...
