iPad (or iPad 2) and 24-bit files
If my memory serves, at one point it was pretty clear the iPad supported only files up to 16/48. Both in file load and USB digital out (w/camera kit). The iOS FLAC Player allowed 24/192 (they then backed specs to 24/96) load and playback, but was still hardware limited at digital output. ...- blessingx

DA10 v. DA11 manual lock setting?
As a previous DA10 owner, even if not 'correct,' I occasionally preferred the sound of 44.1 tracks when the DA10 was toggled to PLL wide lock mode (and upsampled elsewhere). Have looked at the DA11 in photos and read the user manual and confused if this manual mode setting is still available on...- blessingx

Happy DNA Day and...
... as I did this about a year ago thought I'd let Head-Fiers know 23&Me is having a one day sale for $99 to celebrate DNA Day. Not affiliated with the company besides being a customer. Normally $500 (and was $1K last year when I did it), but if you're interested in basic family history or...- blessingx

Apogee Duet versus PS Audio Digital Link III?
Now that the Digital Link III has dropped in price to $699, and as most Macs have both TOSLINK (to get around the DL3 USB bitrate restrictions) and Firewire (the Duets only option), these seem two great 24/96 choices. Obviously, the Duet gives you recording options, a headphone jack and is...- blessingx

Now that Head-Fi is on Twitter
Okay, there have been a few threads in this forum on Twitter, seemingly either ending quickly, people posting their negative impressions as a substitute to email, RSS or IM, the sad state of communication and attention span charges, the ugly celebrity nature of the recent push or the old...- blessingx

Cambridge Soundworks M85s on sale
Cambridge Soundworks may not get the rep I think they deserve, but the M85s are on sale right now, and as an older M80 owner, I doubt you're going to get anywhere near their bang-for-buck value at this $249 pair price. Other items like a decent (reportedly - haven't heard) subwoofer on sale too...- blessingx

iPhone 3G Line-Out Adapter List
Search hasn't revealed an iPhone (and likely in most cases 2G touch) compatible line-out adapter list. If one is available please point me to it. Otherwise, I thought I'd start one here. So far I've found: Apple iPhone 3G Dock $29 PocketDock Line Out USB $29 (newest models only...- blessingx

If Head-Fi runs political ads can we discuss politics?
I know HF probably has no control over Google ad serving, but since the site has opened itself up to that lack of control and now running repeated Prop. 8 (California Repeal of Right of Marriage) ads at the moment (for some, likely geographically), do we have the blessing of the moderators to...- blessingx

M-Audio Studiophile BX5a versus BX5a Deluxe?
Has anyone heard these side-by-side? With the older non-deluxe selling for substantially less ($150 v. $280 and up), curious if it is worth the difference? Driver size and W output appear same. http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_u...phileBX5a.html...- blessingx

Mackie MR5, Fostex PM0.4 or Audioengine A2?
Looking at picking up a set of speakers for a birthday present. This will be used with a computer setup (likely for near-field listening) and outputting to a vintage DAC I'll pick up off eBay. This is for musical enjoyment only, not mixing, etc. I'm pretty inexperienced in speakers so if anyone...- blessingx
