    The Opamp thread

On my own Xonar DS, the horizontal version of the adapter I linked to would be too wide as well and run into some nearby capacitors. However, one of my recent op amps came with a sort of riser that looks like it would make this horizontal dual adapter actually fit and rest above the...

Apologies for the double-post, but it doesn't look like Head-fi lets you delete posts... I believe something like the following is what I'm actually looking for? https://www.ebay.com/itm/172990056225 https://www.ebay.com/itm/172677868865 And since they're just passive boards without any sort...

Oh I'm a derp. Good catch nevertheless as I haven't actually bought it just yet (looking at my previous posts, it seems I misspoke and said I did). Well, I did say that I'm a relative newbie at rolling opamps. :P

Doesn't that still require soldering though? For example, isn't this SOIC8?: http://www.keterex.com/img/soic-8.jpg Don't I need something like this instead (presumably DIP8)?: https://www.diy-shop.ch/179-thickbox_default/20stk-timer-ic-ne555-dip8.jpg

The adapter is only $3.47, and two of such opamps in a DIP8 form factor costs over 10 bucks even from Chinese ebay sellers...heck those same Chinese ebay sellers have the dual mono on a single DIP8 variant for only like a single dollar more!

    The Opamp thread

I'm going to be ordering one of those fancy dual-mono to single-stereo DIP8 adapter things that were linked previously in this thread, but currently I actually don't have any mono op amps (I plan on getting a couple AD979 sometime in the future, but they're costly enough to not be an...

    The Opamp thread

I'm a relative newbie at rolling opamps, and I have just a few quick questions: Anybody have any experience buying amps from the ebay seller "plccenter"? I was specifically looking at this listing A couple years back I bought a pair of LME49990MA on a single DIP8 from frugalphile for use...

As someone with two pairs of white 9963's which use the same rubberized cable as the pink versions, you two totally should get in touch. Much like I said in my previous comment, perhaps the cable-woes that Gallatin is facing would be solved with a rubberized cable rather than the fabric one...

If you seriously have some of the pink ones, then that could actually be a bit valuable since they have the rubberized cord which Monoprice has since discontinued. And like I just mentioned in my previous reply, assuming that "Gallatin" isn't allergic to the color pink, maybe they would be at...

Normally I would have said to try one of the versions with a rubberized cable (9960 or 9963) as they were my go-to, but as I just mentioned previously they've been discontinued (probably because the black and fabric cable of the 9927 got all the ladies).

The cord on my white 9963s still get tangled more easily than most other rubberized cord since it has a more tacky texture, but it definitely is still less than the black 9927s. However, the good news is that enough time has passed since the introduction of the 8320 that there are some other...

I'm saddened that Monoprice now only sells the black variant (9927) and have discontinued all others. :frowning2: The white (9963) and pink (9960) variants in particular had more comfortable stock tips and a rubberized cord that considerably reduced both microphonics as well as tangling...

On the contrary, those have much worse microphonics than the white 9963s and the pink 9960s, both of which have a rubberized cord.   (I own both the black 9927s and white 9963s and greatly prefer the latter)

I second this.  My first white 9963s have noticably weaker bass in one ear while my current ones don't.  I also think my original black 9927s have more bass, but it might justbe because I've only used the black ones for a month or so total due to its crazy annoying fabric cord while I'm on a...

But that's just it, most people aren't aware of the differences outside of color.   Case in point - I had to pretty much be my own guinea pig and test out the white version myself to confirm/deny the rumors of a rubberized cable and any possible benefits it brings.  Not only that, but I...

Both my 18 month old black 9927 IEMs and white 9963 IEMs have a plug like that even though the black 9927s have a fabric cord and the white 9963s have a rubberized cord, so I don't think different models have anything to do with it.   It's possible that the plug update occured back when...

You're probably going to have to try it yourself.  I similarly inquired about the rubber cable on the white 9963's vs the fabric cable on the black 9927's and nobody seemed to know nor did anybody seem to be willing to give it a whirl - so I had bite the bullet and be my own guinea pig.

I highly recommend shaving them, it's actually really easy with a file and shaves down quite quickly (if you're not too OCD, it should take maybe 10-15 minutes?) especially since you can skip shaving the hard-to-reach ones next to the "fin".  Just FYI, don't blow on the IEMs since the drivers...

Well the cable is the same as the white 9963 IEMs, but indeed the price is definitely the cheapest for the pink 9960 IEMs. However, isn't it like £30 shipped anyway? So I wouldn't think £5 would be that big of a difference...

Nice to see the pink 9960 IEMs getting some love - I actually kind of like that color-combo you got going there. So, similar to what I asked HAMS, what made you decide to buy the pink 9960 over the other 3 color options? And BTW, Head-Fi's email notification seems to now be completely...
