It probably doesnt, since its a external soundcard like the Xonar U7. I was told a DAC with volume control which is connected through usb adjusts the windows volume. Thats why I probably need a separate DAC and Hpamp.

Yeah, I just read it. Looks promising, but what I do not seem to find: does it feature a 32-150 ohm output impedance OR output for headphones up to 150 ohm impedance? The distortion would be crucial, if I drive my 50ohm hd598 with 32 ohm.

Thanks for the clarification.   I was just about to pull the trigger on the TubeMagic D1, but then I calculated the shipping + tax + customs, and the 200$ TubeMagic would be a 300$ (230€) thing.. So, I don't really want to pay that much, and I'm looking into cheap china amps right now...

The only gain setting is the choice of the impedance, and I chose the lowest setting there (<32ohm headphones). As for other settings, only the volume setting is affecting the loudness, and this adjusts together with the windows volume.
