Finally tried the foam tips and it completely changed the sound of the r-50s. Sigh I don't like having to compress the foam tips everytime i want to put them into my ear, but the sound is just so much better that I might have to deal with it. Still a slight hint of sibilance, but at least its...

Great review I just got mine yesterday. And totally agree with you about the hot mids. I haven't tried other tips yet, but for now I'm avoiding any tracks with vocals since the silibance and aggressive sound is killing my ears. I just sent my re400 for repair so these wil be my daily earphones...

Yeah I hate that about foam tips as well. I just got my r50 and am very disappointed. Compared to the gr07 re400 and westone w2, they definitely are not up to par. I have not try different tips yet, but I hope that will make the sound better. As of right now they are silibant, slightly...

Well since they are going to be $100, I would effectively be losing $33 in what I would consider the exact same iem with added bass that I don't particularly like.

I highly doubt that the sound would be worse. I prefer the original gr07 over bass edition. Now I regret purchasing the bass edition for 133

Not really digging the bass edition. I feel like it muddles the mids compared to the original gr07. Also a bit silibant.
