For you, yes. But with my luck, I would wind up with one that has this cracking issue. That combined with my ocd of having things perfect as can be, is not something I want to risk spending good money on.

They cracking wingplate issue has prevented me from purchasing the m100.

I personally love the 4000's. I'm actually considering selling my Amperior as I like the sound of the 4000's much more. Rich and smooth.

I think the oils from your skin, condition the leather earpads enough. What destroys leather is dryness.

The bass, and whole sound of the hd25 is just like the amperior's.

Have you considered the Sennheiser Momentum? They don't have the midbass hump. I find they sound great with jazz, rock, and pretty much everything. You do need smallish ears for them to be perfect.

They are great. If they fit. Do you have large ears?

If you have larger than average-sized ears, momentums and m100's aren't for you and maybe you should consider the k550 or ue6000.

The Custom One Pros you can pick up from the seller Razordogdeals on ebay for $150. They are an authorized dealer. That's where I picked mine up from. They are the best buy for that price, by far.

It could be the actual recording. Can you notice it with other headphones?

The brightness of the amperiors can be harsh and fatiguing at times. The balance of the momentums is perfect to me. Slightly more punch with the amperiors, but overall the momentums are a more pleasing sound. The momentums are slight to moderately dark, while maintaining detail.

*UPDATE* Still love these phones. Love them more and more. I don't know if it's because they're burning-in more or what. I just traded my Amperiors for a set of Momentums. Although I really like the Momentums, I just can't get enough of the COP's. I just feel my music more with them...
