Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
What options exist if I want to make a customer cable for these? I still want it to be removable, but I can't find a plug like the special one used in the stock cable with the locking part. Is my only option to cut the original cable and put something like a female 3.5/minixlr?- bavman

ATH-M50 Removable Cable Mod
The thread is actually to relieve tension on the cable in case it gets pulled hard, because the wires are so thin they might break if it wasn't there. I'm not sure why but I had a big hassle getting it soldered too....maybe if I would have used flux it would work better.- bavman

I'm looking to make some RCA interconnecters. Would this guitar cable work well for me? http://www.ebay.com/itm/221152143397?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 If not could someone suggest something off of ebay? or somewhere where I don't have to pay $7-10 shipping for 2...- bavman

Hi guys, I'm looking to add a pair of headphones to my collection specifically for jazz and vocal music (mostly female voice and generally mellow music). Right now my current setup is a DT990/600 and an O2/ODAC combo. I'd like to keep this is the $250ish range, but absolutely no more than...- bavman

The JVC HA-S500 thread.
I don't know about sound quality haven't used it a lot since doing the mod but I did do it myself. Not too bad for my first time. I just need to find some better pads now to help comfort- bavman

That creates a flat braid. I like round braids better because they are usually more flexible and looks nice imo. But for any kind of braid, there exist google/youtube to help you out. It takes no more than a couple minutes to learn- bavman

You can also use 3-pin XLR like a 3.5mm jack. Attach L, R, and ground to one of 3 pins so you can have both in 1 cable- bavman

Is there any way to get just the clear wires from the W2893: http://www.performanceaudio.com/buy/Mogami/W2893/5603 I think BTG audio has them, but they sell it for $.8/ft, while the W2893 has 2 of them for $.8/ft. I just feel wasteful throwing away half the wires because I'll never use them- bavman

I hate their connectors. They suck. I used them for my first cable I ever made and it had a loose connection inside my modded M50s. I got some of those black and gold neutriks and they fit perfectly and actually stayed in, but theyre a quarter of the price- bavman

Look for $250 or less headphones
Right now I currently own some ATH M50s and a JCV HA-S500. I like them both for on the go listening and such, but I'm looking for some headphones for use in home. I'd like to spend $200 or so, but absolutely no more than $250. I like bass heavier headphones, but the receded mids on the...- bavman

Quote: 1. I haven't used techflex, but paracord is good on flexibility. Little mechanical noise but if you make it short enough to run from your pocket to your headphones (or whatever) you'll be okay. I've also used plastic weaved pc sleeving (the kind used to sleeve PSUs) and its a lot...- bavman

I got some really small paracord on ebay and decided to use it for a cable. Its type I i believe, and it turned it to look nice. It was originally a little too thick to fit in the metal jack so I had to drill out the hole to make it bigger.- bavman

ATH-M50 Removable Cable Mod
Post pictures when your done! and let us know how you like it. I've been thinking of converting my 3.5mm mod to xlr because of the locking feature. I find myself constantly tugging on it ever now when i'm walking causing me to lose audio in one ear.- bavman

ATH-M50 Removable Cable Mod
Its very easy to do this mod. Open left driver, cut wires soldered to driver leaving 4-5 inches, mount your jack in the opening, solder the wires from the drivers to the correct ones on the jack. The driver is labeled with L/R so you know which wire is for which. All you'll need is a jack...- bavman
