Hifiman EF5 + Xonar Essence STX op amps
Hi all, I just ordered my STX and I've done a little bit of research on upgrading op amps for the EF5 and both op amps on the STX. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good match with this hardware on HE-500s. I guess the better question actually should be "how do these op amps change the...- ericeng91

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
Finally going to a local store to audition the HE500s today. If I like them and all things go as planned, I might be coming home tonight as a new owner of some awesome headphones!!!!- ericeng91

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
Haha. a list would be great, and a list of tubes would be even more awesome! I actually purchased the EF5 in anticipation of purchasing a Hifiman headphone. It wasn't until recently that I've more actively pursuing the HE500.- ericeng91

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
I'm not sure where I mentioned it (possibly in another post), but I only had a short time with the HE400s. They sounded great, but do be honest, they were the best I've heard on headphones, so I never really had a good comparison. Honestly, my closest was some AKG 701s, or my Westone 4r IEMs -...- ericeng91

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
Yea, I just moved to the michigan area not too long ago and I went on their open house. Great looking place with some awesome audio equipment there. As for the HE-500, they sold their display very recently, and they said they would be getting 3 more in stock or so (one for display, 2 for...- ericeng91

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
Overture Audio http://www.overture-audio.com/ Mainly loud speakers, but (at least at the open house) they had a corner set up for desktop amps and headphones.- ericeng91

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
I'm looking to get to a store in my area (ann arbor) either this weekend or next to audition the He-500s. Very exciting as my current pair of headphones are (much cheaper) Sennheiser HD555s from about 6 or 7 years ago. Just have to wait for the store to get some he500s back in stock before i...- ericeng91

Hifiman HE-400i and HE-560: From CES to Pre-Launch
Don't quote me on the 500 being discontinued. Earlier in the thread they mentioned the HE-4 was being discontinued, and to me, it doesn't make sense to continue the HE-500 if the 400i is so close in price and the 560 is considered the upgraded model. So that's just my speculation. Hifiman...- ericeng91

Hifiman HE-400i and HE-560: From CES to Pre-Launch
I'm not saying I'm buying right now. But if the 500 is stopping production, that doesn't give me A LOT of time to sit and think over it. I figure, why not ask the people at HiFiMan how they feel about the two products?- ericeng91

Hifiman HE-400i and HE-560: From CES to Pre-Launch
Oh man. Now that's really got me thinking of 500 vs 560. Would I be asking too much for a more-or-less "unbiased" opinion on the two? Sound quality & comfort vs the price difference.- ericeng91

Hifiman HE-400i and HE-560: From CES to Pre-Launch
I know this is slightly OT, and i'm not sure if this has been discussed yet, but I am thinking of getting a HE-500. However, with these coming out so soon, what's the difference between the 400i and 500? I've read about the differences between the 500 and 560, but I don't know if I can justify...- ericeng91

Westone 4R Amp
I own HiFiman RE-0 IEMs, but that's it from their product line for now. My cousin has HE-5s and they sound awesome. Seriously considering their HE line of full size headphones.- ericeng91

Westone 4R Amp
I'm pretty open to what amps I use. As of now, the amp is planned to be attached to my PC, so I never really thought about using a portable amp. My main purpose for going with a desktop amp is because I might have a pretty decent deal on a EF-5. If that deal falls though, I'll definitely take...- ericeng91

Westone 4R Amp
Hi all, sorry to dig up a (possibly) old thread, and also side track it a little bit. I'm looking to get a desktop amp - Hifiman EF5 or Schiit Lyr kind of amp. How will the Westone 4r deal with these amps? is there anything I should worry about as far as using a power source like those two?- ericeng91

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
So I just pulled the trigger on the 4R for 320. Should have it by Friday. Hopefully I can get them burned in quickly and maybe write up my thoughts on it. I'll be comparing them with HiFiman RE-0s.- ericeng91

Looking for IEMs in the $500 range
Hi all, I have some news. For the past few days, I've narrowed my choices down to the Westone 4R and the SM64. This is mainly because the F111s looked to be difficult to get a hold of. With those two choices in mind, I felt that the SM64 was the better deal at $400 unless the 4R significantly...- ericeng91

Looking for IEMs in the $500 range
Eke2k6, thanks for all the info. I've heard so much praise and recommendations about the comply tips, I wanted to learn some more. I'm surprised to see such a large collection and it looks like they have tips matched up to every major iem company (no fitear though!).- ericeng91

Looking for IEMs in the $500 range
Couple quick random questions. Are Comply tips really that good? What is there advantage over the rubber flanges I use currently (aside from the obvious isolation). Is one recommended over another? I've never tried comply tips, so I can't mention about comfort on my own, but I am speaking...- ericeng91

Looking for IEMs in the $500 range
Thanks for the suggestion lin0003. I will definitely look into it although that is around the top of my desired budget range. A question about the F111 and ER4S/ER4P for those who can answer or have experience. The f111 seems to be constantly compared with the ER4, sometimes saying...- ericeng91
