This is why I am never buying a HiFiMAN product again (Fang you might have a Ph.D. but you can't respect the simple concept of consistency)
Jerg wasn't being rude at all; you voided your warranty, and you shouldn't expect them to pretend you didn't simply because you could have neglected to mention it. Your complaints about the lack of replies is valid, but the response you were given is perfectly reasonable.- Narrillnezzurh

Looking for IEMs around $300
Title says it all. I'm currently looking at the ER4's and the RE-600's, and I'm not really sure which to go with. As far as my preferences are concerned, these IEMs would act as a portable complement to my Mad Dogs, which I find to be slightly warm and dark. My priorities are clarity, natural...- Narrillnezzurh

NHT monitors
I went with the Yamaha HS80Ms and I'm loving them :) Thanks though, I totally missed the powered version when I looked on the website. -
NHT monitors
I picked up a pair of KRK RP6s the other day, and I'm really not sold on the sound. I plan to mix on them, and they don't sound nearly revealing enough to serve that purpose. I've been recommended by an AE friend of mine to check out NHT monitors, and I'm curious if anyone here has any...- Narrillnezzurh

I'm thinking of splurging a bit on the amp, what do you guys think of the JDS c421 (with the AD8620)?- Narrillnezzurh

Excellent, I'll give it a look. But I meant how does the combo sound? ;) EDIT: Never mind, I see you covered that in the review.- Narrillnezzurh

Mad Dogs it is, then. Would they pair well with a Fiio E11?- Narrillnezzurh

Looking for ~$300 audiophile headphones
With the talk of Mad Dogs matching the detail of the LCD-2 I'm strongly leaning towards them at this point, but I can't help but wonder how much soundstaging I'd lose over the 880s. It sounds like the 770s have a recessed mid range, so if I don't go for the Mad Dogs I'll probably just get the...- Narrillnezzurh

Yeah, the Mad Dogs look nice. How would you say they compare to the 880s?- Narrillnezzurh

I don't know if it would be an issue, to be honest. What would you recommend that's similar to the DT 880s, but with a closed back?- Narrillnezzurh

Looking for ~$300 audiophile headphones
How bad is the leakage, would you say? A friend of mine has a pair of V-Moda LPs, which are advertised as semi-open, and they don't leak very badly at all. If it isn't too over the top I don't think it'll be a problem.- Narrillnezzurh

Looking for ~$300 audiophile headphones
Alright then, no Grados ;) I'm leaning toward a DT 880 at this point, it seems like it'll be able to cope with the various genres I listen to while providing a substantial amount of detail. My only concern is the impedance. Will I be able to drive the 600 ohm version with a portable amp...- Narrillnezzurh

How would a pair of Grados work? I've always been intrigued by them, but I don't want to limit myself genre-wise.- Narrillnezzurh

Looking for ~$300 audiophile headphones
The K550s look good, but several of the reviews note a pretty severe resonant peak in the upper mids, and that's a big turnoff.- Narrillnezzurh

Looking for ~$300 audiophile headphones
I was considering getting a pair of M-100s, but it looks like they aren't quite as audiophile friendly as I'd hoped. I'm looking for a fairly transparent set of headphones that will work with a wide variety of genres and are suitable for mixing, and from what I've been reading the M-100s don't...- Narrillnezzurh
