Yeah, Trio has always been my favorite. I enjoy the Volur, but strangely, I find myself going through an extended period of listening to nothing but the U4s !

Regarding listening volumes --- I figure you're allotted a certain number of decibel-hours for your lifetime. How you want to spend them is entirely up to you.

Yes, the 2 kits arrived within a day of each other. It was better that way. Enough ear time with each to enjoy them and see what they are about, but not enough to fall in love and buy!!

Received Monachaa from @Visceral today. I didn't get a chance to open it yet due to total eclipse and family visits today. I'll get to that tomorrow. Edit : Gave it a quick listen and confirm it arrived in great condition.

My son who is a professional photographer was visiting today from Columbus and took pictures throughout the eclipse, intending to make a collage. So I didn't need to do anything except watch. Truly a life-changing experience.

From this, can I assume you use the m20 module with your Volur? I'm using m15 and perhaps that explains the difference. Last time I tried the m20, it was new and the bass was too much, but I know the bass has tightend up since then. Perhaps I should revisit the m20 and compare again.

I think the Volur is perhaps a tad more refined and holographic. For me, the Trio is more fun (thanks to the meaty bass). If I could only keep one, it would be the Trio. I'd be interested in seeing others' choice between the two.

After spending some time with the Volur, I've rotated back to the U4s, and find myself really enjoying it. I don't know if the bass has burned in some, or if it just seems fuller coming from the Volur, but it sounds damn perfect to me!!

For the purposes of comparing 2 or more FR graphs, isn't normalizing to 1Khz just an arbitrary convention? One could normalize to another frequency if he wants to, say, start with the bass volume the same on both, and see how the rest of the FR compares. Or one could argue it might be better to...

Maybe. But not necessarily. Personally, I'm 100% with you regarding funneling money to audio vs chronographs. But I think most visitors to this thread have something in common, and that's appreciation of well executed design, engineering, and manufacture to achieve an outstanding product...

Re: Volur. Yep, moved from m12 to m15.

After some extensive tip rolling, I also ended up with Acoustune AET07, the main difference with other contenders being the highs were ever so slightly smoother.
