EMM Labs DAC2X slays all comers - and wallets .....
Other than vinyl I still prefer SACD over anything else. I believe SACD transports better any streaming device I have ever heard to date.- jrisles

EMM Labs DAC2X slays all comers - and wallets .....
Whilst I am not suggesting for a single moment that Ed doesn't know what the heck he is talking about. You can understand why people would think an "external clock" would be better? I mean we have external separates for everything in this hobby. External volume controls both passive and active...- jrisles

EMM Labs DAC2X slays all comers - and wallets .....
Great stuff. I am eyeing off a NS1 unit to match with my DAC2X V2 DAC might be awhile before I can upgrade to a DV2 & by then who knows Ed may have released something else by then. I haven't had the opportunity to listen to a Rossini anything here in Australia. I have heard a Lampizator (can't...- jrisles

EMM Labs DAC2X slays all comers - and wallets .....
Trying to get my EMM Labs DAC2X to show up as a USB device when connected to my Mac Mini but for the life of me it won't show as a device to connect too? Are there any special drivers to install? I usually use my TSDX as a transport but want to start streaming also. I never remembered it being...- jrisles

EMM Labs DAC2X slays all comers - and wallets .....
Haha ... yes don't disagree. But aren't you just a little bit curious? I know I am. Chances are I will never get the opportunity to hear something this expensive. And I would always think that if someone spends this sort of $$$ on digital only to sound more and more like an analogue source...- jrisles

EMM Labs DAC2X slays all comers - and wallets .....
I am also curious to know if anyone on this thread has heard a comparison of the DAC2X V2 v’s their newer DA2? I am expecting to be an improvement given the price differential between the 2 units. But the mind boggles how it could be better. I love the DAC2X V2 so much I have considered it my...- jrisles

EMM Labs DAC2X slays all comers - and wallets .....
Mine was $AU2,700.00 ($US1,900.00) back in 2017. I have also emailed EMM Labs & the Australian Company who did my V2 upgrade in 2017 & asked about the power supply upgrade & the analog output upgrdae as per our previous discussion. Haven’t heard back yet but will keep you in the loop when I do.- jrisles

EMM Labs DAC2X slays all comers - and wallets .....
Thanks. I'll take a look at what exactly was involved in my V2 upgrade. As I did my upgrade in 2017 and perhaps the power supply and analog was also done. But given that it sounds like it was something additional to the V2 upgrade perhaps not. Or perhaps the power supply and analog were not even...- jrisles

EMM Labs DAC2X slays all comers - and wallets .....
So did they do these power supply and analog stage upgrades as part of your V2 upgrade? Or was your DAC already upgraded to V2 but you sent it in for service & as part of this service they upgraded the power supply and analog stage? Also what is the NS1? I already own the EMM Labs TSDX Transport- jrisles

EMM Labs DAC2X slays all comers - and wallets .....
That is brilliant. I have never thought of returning something for maintenance and servicing. Especially when the item appears to be working ok. Did you already have the V2 DAC or the V1? I have got the V2 and am wondering if the upgrade power supply and analog output stage has already been...- jrisles

PS DirectStream vs EMM Dac2x vs Playback Design MPS 5
Oh yes. Of course I would definitely "try before I buy" for this sort of money? But you don't hold much credence for the dagogo review or what the other audiophiles are saying about this optical cable?- jrisles

PS DirectStream vs EMM Dac2x vs Playback Design MPS 5
If I do upgrade I will probably look at replacing the EMM Labs Optilink with this brand. Aural Symphonics. The word on the street is this cable from AS is like a component upgrade. The cable is not cheap (but neither is the Transport/DAC combo) but would be a lot cheaper than replacing the...- jrisles

PS DirectStream vs EMM Dac2x vs Playback Design MPS 5
LOL this is so so true. I mean you just have to look at the time gap between my posts on here. It is fair to say I stopped posting once I got my EMM Labs or actually maybe even the PBD-MPS-5. I was very happy with the PBD DAC too but it was just by chance I was able to loan the EMM Labs DAC that...- jrisles

PS DirectStream vs EMM Dac2x vs Playback Design MPS 5
I don't know why they (EMM Labs) are not favourable. Their DAC's still sound amazing. In fact the EMM Labs DAC2X V2 is my "end game" DAC. I have stopped looking or worried about wanting to listen to other DACs (I know famous last words of an audiophile). But honestly I just love this DAC. I know...- jrisles

PS DirectStream vs EMM Dac2x vs Playback Design MPS 5
I know this is an old thread. But FWIW I owned the MPS-5 for about 8yrs before I had the opportunity to listen to a EMM Labs DAC2X in my system. I had listened to many other DAC's since owning the MPS-5 & none bettered it until the DAC2X came along. I ended up selling my MPS-5 and bought the EMM...- jrisles

EMM Labs DAC2X slays all comers - and wallets .....
I also own the EMM Labs DAC2X V2 as well as the EMM TSDX Transport. I use to own a Playback Designs MPS-5 DAC but borrowed the DAC2X and found I prefered it to my PBD. The PBD I owned for about 8yrs and was very happy with it. And had I not head the EMM Labs probably would still be happy with...- jrisles

Audeze LCD2 to HD600/650 adapter?
As we all know this hobby can get rather expensive with cans, amps, dacs and cables and then of course the music. Like a lot of you I have quite a few pairs of cans with different cables. I own a pair of Audeze LCD2's and purchased the SAA Endorphin cable for this headphone a few years ago. I...- jrisles

Thanks. Wow ... certainly looks the part. I might add i also own an ECBA myself running with the 300B/PX4 & 6SN7 variant. I have been actually using it as a preamp last couple of years. I am on a journey at the moment to find myself another preamp so that i might be able to reclaim the ECBA...- jrisles

Same with the K1000's imho. I don't use my BA to drive my K1000's as i don't believe there is enough grunt/gain - call it whatever you like. It doesn't sound nearly as good as say using the speaker connectors of my Nelson Watt F5 clone with the K1000's. Just about everything else is fine (i...- jrisles

Eddie Current Transcription Phono Preamp?
Hi All. Considering this as an option. I am an owner of his Balancing Act Headphone amp which is currently acting as my pre-amp ATM in my 2ch rig. Be keen to hear of some further updates in the time that you have had this unit. You still happy with your ECPA?- jrisles
