HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
I like the memory foam pads from the AKG AnniversaryK702/712. It ticks all of my boxes and mutes that low treble a bit.- Fearless1

Amp / Dac for HD800?
Brilliantly said! I would add that most that critical reviews are from those who have never heard them and must validate their inferior purchases.- Fearless1

LCD2 vs AEON OPEN vs ELEAR
Comfort- Aeon>Elear>LCD 2 Sound stage-Aeon>Elear>LCD 2 Tonal accuracy-Aeon>Elear>LCD 2 Musicality (my general enjoyment) Elear>Aeon>LCD 2 Bass Elear>LCD 2> Aeon Treble (my preference is warm) Elear>Aeon>LCD 2(though if I were watching a movie I would pick the Aeon, it is voiced beautifully)...- Fearless1

Dac/Amp hd 800
The Lyr 2 is terrible with the HD800, the Vali 2 has better synergy. As far as solid state amp on a budget, the Magni 3 is exceptional sounding, dead quite and is a steal at 99 bucks.- Fearless1

New audiophile, recently obtained an LCD2 and an HD800. Should I upgrade my Magni 2 / Modi 2 stack with a Gustard H10, or a Magni 3?
Yes Yggy to Jot, balanced. Jot is a great amp, the Magni 3 just hits a sweet spot to my ears treble wise.- Fearless1

I actually think the Magni 3 sounds more balanced then the Jot. It is significantly better then the 2, and has a similar sound to my Darkstar(my favorite ss amp).- Fearless1

Compression of the pads with age makes a difference as well. I have an older and a newer pair the difference is minimal (to my ears).- Fearless1

Like I said earlier, I don't tweak too much, I am very happy with extensively reasearched current gear , it's there for some troublesome peaks and valleys that are not correctable with amp coloration/tube rolling.- Fearless1

Yeah, that is similar to the was I run mine as well. You should pick up an Ultra curve to play with, run optical in, then out (split after the out). 31 band graphic and a parametric EQ,lots of buttons to press, it is kinda fun!- Fearless1

How do you split your source? I use optical ran through an ultra curve-pro, I also use multiple sources and amps. All can be tweaked(I don't love EQ but some headphones need a bit to shine).- Fearless1

IMHO the hidden gem in the ATH line-up is the ATH-R70x, the smooth mids of the HD650 with a more open sound and deeper bass. They do not scale like the HD650, but man they sound just great with movies and music.- Fearless1
