    Reversible AKG K701 bass mod

Nice work! I also realize they has black cushions and the leather headband having those knockles resting to your head. Do you remember if yours also had black or grey foam in front of the drivers? (I suppose black has higher density than the grey one´s) It seem´s AKG/Harman has made a lot of...

    Reversible AKG K701 bass mod

My modded K701 have just beenburned in with white and pink noise/sine waves for two days now, at around 70 - 80 dB. Then compared with a pair of HD650, and both me and my father considered that the K701 sounded softer, more open and clearer with a stronger/heavier bass than the HD650 which...

    Reversible AKG K701 bass mod

Many people can´t understand why AKG (Harman) choosed to assemble those two stickers at the back of the drivers, but I´m pretty sure why; As all those headphones are intended for use in studio with mixing/recording, it´s preferable to have the detailed sound with extended treble, and they do not...

    Connecting DAC-source to dual amplifiers

I know that it is actually considered wrong in HiFi to connect a DAC with only an unbalanced RCA output to dual amplifiers with a Y-split cable, but since I connected so without noticing any problems, it has worked pretty well. However, I should add that I only use one amplifier at a time. But...

The "Lovely Cube" Headphone Amp (Lehmann Black Cube Linear Clone)

Or if anyone is interested, I can assemble a unit as I have components and PCB for spare. I live in Sweden, so preferable in Europe.

The "Lovely Cube" Headphone Amp (Lehmann Black Cube Linear Clone)

Most of the China clone kits at eBay/Aliexpress will have the cheapest components, I suppose that´s the reason many amps will fail or measure badly. They also use to have blue coloured PCBs. Many caps and resistors will not have the best quality or correct values, but should however work (for...

The "Lovely Cube" Headphone Amp (Lehmann Black Cube Linear Clone)

My LBC amp is working flawlessly perfect! And as many people are worried about the amp are generating a lot of heat (mostly when used in BIAS Class A) and the enclosure has no ventilation holes, my solution about heat (sseen in the pictures above) was to use an aluminium plate to build a...

Burson Audio Fun (2w pc Class A Headphone Amp)

I think I also used a small flat screewdriver at the side of the knob to remove it, that get only some tiny scratches.

Burson Audio Fun (2w pc Class A Headphone Amp)

Maybe it will get off if using some rubber between your fingers and the knob or at least wash your hands and also the knob before (dish soap will be fine) and be really dry, for better grip. It will need some quite much force to remove it from the volume attenuators shaft.

Burson V6 Vivid and V6 Classic Discrete Audio Opamps Discussion and Reviews

Today I swapped out the AK4490 DAC to the AK4399 DAC, that I recently modded with some "Snubbers", and right now listening to the free french FLAC-streaming Frequence3, really enjoyable with pure CD-quality! Usually, a DAC or Amplifier - schematic are designed with a Power stage with at least...

The "Lovely Cube" Headphone Amp (Lehmann Black Cube Linear Clone)

I took some time to play with the black and white DIP switch settings label, and add some colour to it. Note that I removed the High voltage warning and maked a Check for 220 Volt version.

Burson V6 Vivid and V6 Classic Discrete Audio Opamps Discussion and Reviews

Listen right now to Tidal with MQA Master, using my modded China DAC with AK4490 without upsampling and Burson Vivid; the sound is SOOO transparent, clear, airy and bassy! The AK4490 are famous for it´s "Velvet sound", with it´s loudness like sound. However, it sound really nice to me! I also...

Burson V6 Vivid and V6 Classic Discrete Audio Opamps Discussion and Reviews

I hav´nt had any big issues removing the DIP-socket protection - only when I used some heavy force to it, the reddish enclosure came off on a few of them. Normally, I´m using only my fingers te take the protection off.

Burson Audio Fun (2w pc Class A Headphone Amp)

Yes, I remember the Alps volume pot needed quite alot of force to remove! When I reinstalled my new board, I add some thermal heat paste (for PC-usage) between the transistors and the enclosures bottom for maximum cooling. And the best way for reassembling, is to fastening all screws half way...

The "Lovely Cube" Headphone Amp (Lehmann Black Cube Linear Clone)

When I connected the Snubber (a 47nF paralleled with a 330Ohm resistor), I realized the PCB already has a pair of soldering pads connected to the transformers secondary and the Heat Fuses input. So, now I´ve done some listening with my HD800, and this LBC amp works tremendously well - those...

Burson Audio Fun (2w pc Class A Headphone Amp)

Should the Preamp Out from the Fun maybe preferrably be connected to Tape In at the Home cinema Receiver, and not the Line IN or AUX? Will Tape In require a lower voltage level than an ordinary Line In, suitable for use with Preamp? Also, when the signal are going through the Fun, I think it...

Burson Audio Fun (2w pc Class A Headphone Amp)

I´m connected a CD-players analog Line out to the Fun´s RCA Input, then from the Fun´s Preamp Output to a Home cinema Receiver Denon AVR1604´s Line in (AUX/VCR), using speakers. Also without headphones TRS connected to the front 1/4" (6,35mm) headphone jack, the sound from the speakers are VERY...

The "Lovely Cube" Headphone Amp (Lehmann Black Cube Linear Clone)

As I had some Rifa 47nF 630V laying, I choosed to soldered it to a 330Ohm 2W carbon resistor. Within a few days, I´m gonna solder this Snubber to the voltage input for my Lovely Cube. Will report back with my thoughts, when done!

Burson Audio Fun (2w pc Class A Headphone Amp)

As the Burson Fun has output RCA´s to be used as a Pre amp, I suppose it can be used as a headphone amp and at the same time be connected to a receiver/speaker amp by connecting the pre amp out at the Fun to a Line in at the receiver, by using a stereo Interconnect cable. But, when I do so, the...

The "Lovely Cube" Headphone Amp (Lehmann Black Cube Linear Clone)

I asked at other forums the question about replacing the four 0,1uF caps for the LBC (and other audio gears as well), one guy has used a scope to measure if this will be an advantage or not - and he replied this should be good, but the values I suggest are not optimal as there will be some too...

Introducing the Matrix M-Stage HPA-3U and HPA-3B, review to follow!

I have tried both the V6 Vivid, SS3602, NewClassD and Orange discretes and to me the SS3602 are the best - working at really high BIAS Class A (altogh the other competiters are not bad). I´m curious about the SS2590, but it´s a pro-version with a really high price and are really huge! BUT, the...

Introducing the Matrix M-Stage HPA-3U and HPA-3B, review to follow!

I suppose this amp will work at 15 Volt from start, with LM317/337. SparkoS discrete voltage regulators should give a much cleaner voltage signal. Just notice that the 1K1 Ohm should be removed and 100 Ohm should be shorted when using discrete voltage regs LM1117-15 and LM7915 (for 15 VDC)...

The "Lovely Cube" Headphone Amp (Lehmann Black Cube Linear Clone)

Don´t be worried, the BD´s can go as high as 150 degrees Celsius (junction temperature), and works best at about 75 C. Therefore, you will get the best sound after the amp has reached it´s optimum working temperature, after about 15 - 60 min. This is even more important if using tubes. I´ve...
