Portable Sources for the Budget HeadFi'er
Where is the Budget Portable Source Gallery? Has that gone. I've been away from the forum a while. Seems like its now all top end stuff. I'm looking for budget/mid range portable source that takes 256GB SD cards. For the last few years, I've mostly been using music streaming apps. I'm trying...- Sparky191

Robust, tough bluetooth headphones
One of the kids, a teen is always breaking their headphones. What headphones have you given loads of abuse and they've lasted the longest? I guess somewhere around the 50 dollar mark. I rarely break headphones, so I've no experience of a good robust headset.- Sparky191

Sony MH1 R&D Story ...and discussion.
I have a set of these which I think sound great. But I could never get to fit right. One of the kids borrowed them and they are now not working in one ear. If anyone wants them before I bin them, let me know. No tips. I'll drop them in the post. Seems a shame to bin them.- Sparky191

[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret
I could never wear the pair I have though I love the sound the cable just pulls them out constantly. My son borrowed them and within a week he had lost the tips and broken the cable. I wouldn't be able to re cable them but I'm reluctant to trash them. Why the sudden interest in then. This...- Sparky191

For me They are better than 5900. I don't have them with me to AB with the TX2. But here is a big jump to...- Sparky191

Phone Fi
A new thread might have been more relevant. I'm using a Alcatel Idol 4 VR which is a cheap phone, but has surprisingly good audio for the price and 4 stereo speakers. I'm more a quality LowFI kinda guy though. The phone is a bit old now. How ever it has too much bloat installed. Next time...- Sparky191

The 6th gen have slightly larger battery. Curious why it does so badly on battery life. Have you checked yours isn't faulty.- Sparky191

iPhone SE vs iTouch
There is a 5s and a se but there is no phone called a 5se. I assume you mean a se. Have you AB them for SQ? I don't know about amps. Can't advise you on that.- Sparky191

[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret
For me the CX300 had a bloated muffled bass. Never heard the CX300 II. I have the CX475 and while a bit too much bass I like them better then the CX300, especially for comfort and fit. The MH1c is in a different league to the CX300 and CX475. Highs, mids and bass a have a depth and balance...- Sparky191

[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret
For me get rid of the flat cable and have a Y cable and not a J. If there are to be controls have them below the Y. Anything else is daft. I love the sound of them, but was never able to wear them. Apart from the cable the housing is too far out, with the cable at the end so it will always...- Sparky191

CALLING ALL IRISH MEMBERS
I have no budget or time for this anymore :frowning2: I'm barely hanging on to my low fi gear. So I'd have nothing to bring except cloth ears.... Kids have taken over most of my MP3 players and head phones, and nothing survives long in their hands. Last vague music related thing I've done is...- Sparky191

I love minidisc - is that weird?
I assume optical gives you WAV. Which is better quality. or if you want to convert to some other format in the future. If all you want is 320 then its more convenient to go straight to 320. I wonder is sonic stage good enough mp3 encoder these days.- Sparky191
