The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

Did you happen to own the previous versions of the Maxwell (Penrose or Mobius), if so can you compare their sound quality to the Maxwell? The one downside of the Penrose/Mobius for me is the footstep directional audio for FPS gaming like CS2/Apex.. not very pinpoint.

Emotiva BasX A2m Flex Speaker + Headphone Amp

Sweet! I've been running the same setup for a while now with a Musician Pegasus Dac, this setup is it for me.

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

How's the FPS footstep positioning compared to Penrose/Audeze? The latter are terrible for competitive fps gaming.

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

Did you guys work specifically on audio positioning for footsteps and soundstage accuracy for the Maxwell and improving it from the Penrose/Mobius? Are the main drivers the same as previous models or are they completely different?

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

Mobius and Penrose owner checking in here. I love the Mobius and I love the Penrose even more because of the 2.4ghz usb transmitter. Music/movies = fantastic but both sucks at competitive gaming because footsteps/positional audio is terrible. Does the Maxwell address this issue?

That looks amazing for the price, thanks I'll pick one up.

Low end. Cheap. Generic. Otherwise bang for buck cable thread!

Any recommendations for a 2.5mm HIFIMAN cable with a 6.5mm plug? I am just looking for a more usable cable vs. the tangled crappy mess on my HE6 SEv2

    Audeze Penrose X and Penrose

I really love these headphones... sounds great for music, movies, is very comfortable and the mic is good for meetings for WFH. The only downside and it's a pretty big one is the sound stage and positioning in competitive gaming. Everything is squashed together and I can't pinpoint where my...

I have a very good condition Burson Audio Soloist Model (HA-160), this is the full-size model not the smaller SL version. I do not have the original box for it but it will include the power cord and the original blue RCA cables. Three inputs and also a nice preamp built-in. Class A goodness...

Emotiva BasX A2m Flex Speaker + Headphone Amp

I don't know about how it measures... but I also own a set of HypeX Ncore 252MP that measures amazing that I also use with my HE6se with speaker taps. I went ahead and picked up this new BasX A2m amp for my desktop as an all-in-one solution. What I can say so far is it powers the HE6se without...

Emotiva BasX A2m Flex Speaker + Headphone Amp

Anyone have any experience with this speaker/headphone amp combo unit? Small footprint and seems to be lots of power for a desktop speaker setup and also power hungry headphones. I am thinking of buying one to try with my HE6SE which is currently being powered by a power amp through speaker taps...

    HifiMan HE6 V2 Adorama

Needs more power for the HE6SE if you feel it's lacking bass, I prefer the HE6SE over my LCD3F for bass and only losing to the TH900 but the trade-offs were worth it for me to sell the other two. I would just save yourself the trouble and go straight to speaker tabs because I felt the exact same...

    HifiMan HE6 V2 Adorama

Sold all my other headphones (TH900 V1, HE-560 V1) and kept this beast. Hopefully this is the end-game, running them out of a Musician Pegasus -> Burson Soloist for Pre-amp -> Audiophonics MPA-S250NC via speaker taps. The Burson soloist is a great amp but did not do these justice at all even at...

Nope, I changed the pads to the older pair and noticed the same thing. There's too many variables with my two sets.. wooden cups vs. plastic, age of drivers, connection types, etc. I also doubt I would notice the difference between them if I didn't have them to A/B. I ended up returning the V4...

    Hifiman HE6-SE

Are you referring to my HE-560 V1? I haven't gotten a lot of time to listen to these still burning them in and also listening to an old HD 600 that just came in too haha. Man the HE6se is just steps above my HE-560.. it makes my HE-560 sound a bit muffled??? More detailed, much more airy, sound...

Denafrips Sub-Brand or Rip-off? The case of Musician Audio's Pegasus R2R DAC

What is your experience with the different outputs on the Pegasus regarding sound quality? Did one sound better than the other?

    Hifiman HE6-SE

I just got my HE6se in today.... I think I might sell my TH900 :L3000: Although I feel like it needs more juice when going out of my Burson Soloist original... guess I'll try speaker taps from my Dayton APA150.

PC audio gear + closed headphone advice?

The 2.4Ghz wireless dongle that the Penrose uses is better for sound and gaming. You get the lowest latency using 2.4Ghz vs. bluetooth only on the Mobius and the bluetooth for gaming sucks.

PC audio gear + closed headphone advice?

If I can only have one pair of headphones strictly for my PC that does everything I need including gaming... I would pick up an Audeze Penrose if it sounds identical to my Mobius and I would be perfectly happy.

Denafrips Sub-Brand or Rip-off? The case of Musician Audio's Pegasus R2R DAC

Nope, just trying to discuss the issue at hand here where both brands have some sort of driver issue. Oh and if you're still looking for proof that the Ares II is better than the Pegasus... well there's already an owner of both that states the Pegasus is a step above. Welcome to my ignore list...

Denafrips Sub-Brand or Rip-off? The case of Musician Audio's Pegasus R2R DAC

There's a post here by Alvin (post 629) on the Denafrips DAC that is stating it could be a firmware issue when people were reporting this happening on those DACs too. Supposedly Hotel California track at 1min 18s could reproduce the issue. Would make sense you're seeing it on both since they...

Schiit Modius discussion - $199 balanced AK4493 DAC

It's probably the AKM chip used in the Modius; I felt the same way when I was using a Liquid Spark DAC which uses the same chip.

Okay, I will break them in for a couple days and compare again. No backplate on the V1, I just swapped pads and put back the stock cable. Will listen again while the V4s are breaking in. Just for the record, if I didn't have these to A/B I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference...
